Sometimes It Lasts - Abbi Glines Book review

Source:  Simon & Schuster for an honest review
Format: Paperback
Rating - **** stars

Cage York has to choose between a love of the game and a love of the girl in this sultry Sea Breeze novel from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Cage York finally has everything he ever wanted.

And Eva is at the very top of that list;the perfect girl with a temper as hot as her fabulously flawless body. But for Cage, a baseball scholarship has always been a close second. So when Cage finally gets his chance, he and Eva must endure a long distance relationship and all the dangerous temptations that come with it. Temptations that former bad boy Cage York may not be able to escape.

Then after receiving some illicit photos that show Cage has been behaving bald, very badly, Eva finds solace in the comforting arms of her insanely attractive neighbor Jeremy, who vows that he will take care of Eva in ways Cage never could. It's an offer that may be too good for Eva to turn down.

Cage York and Eva Brooks  story continues, and concludes in Sometimes It Lasts, the fifth installment in Abbi Glines Sea Breeze series.

Having read Cage and Eva's previous stories I can now see why Abbi wrote another, this instalment ties up all loose ends and there story is now told and finished.  This couple have been through the ringer so to speak - they have overcome pain and many obstacles and in this story we see lots of emotion along the way.  Temptation at its best , and also more spunks to deal with ( lol )

In Sometimes it Lasts - we see the insecurities that pull at the relationship . We see the characters face turmoil and betrayal but in the end we are given a resolution.  Somethings aren't always as they seem !

Quote -

“Make no mistake. There will always be an us. You can pretend like what we had never happened. You can ignore your feelings. Hell, baby, you can even marry Jeremy f*cking Beasley. But there will always be an us. No one and nothing can change that.”

The characters are shown with flaws , imperfect .. but also human.  We see them fight the insecurities, but also see them grow and allow themselves to work on the situations that arise.

The characters are certainly enjoyable and easy to like. Even with the  over dramatics at times lol
I also enjoyed that we see characters from previous books in this story. Abbi weaves a solid plot, filled with turmoil and heartache but gives the reader the HEA they yearn for.

This is the conclusion to Cage and Eva's story. But as always as a reader I eagerly look forward to more of this series and to see more characters get there story told.

Crisp dialogue, great storyline. Abbi writes her stories with such vivid emotions one can only be swept along within the pages.

Abbi write unforgettable quotes I love them !!

“You’re mine, Eva Brooks. Always. You told me that yourself and, sweetheart, I’m holding you to it.”

Fallen Too Far was Blaire's story. Now it's time for Rush to share his side.

Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn’t.

Having read Fallen to Far we all know Blaire's story and how it goes, how they met and all the mischief that they got into.

Everyone  I am sure Loves Rush Finlay . He is protective of the small group of friends in his circle he does have and most of us who have read the series are in swoon mode over him !!

Do Tell me if I am wrong lol

In this installment we meet Blaire - we  all know how the story goes there. She is innocent  - and  in this story we see inside Rush's head. His Pov , his turmoil , and also his inner fight to do the right thing and his feelings for Blaire.

I don’t know what this is that is going on between us, but from the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were going to change my world.”

We see Rush's side within this story , his  emotions and thoughts and even though , he is  portrayed the  bad boy we see a softer side to him in this story. Not to tell you the norty side I dam loveeeed !!

Bad boy turned devoted lover - boyfriend  ... Swoon !!!

Torn between his love and feelings and the  responsibility for his sister  he is unsure what to do about his new found feelings for Blaire . We see Rush struggle to make the right choices. ( I enjoyed reading from a males POV - its quiet refreshing and enlightening )

In this story Rush comes to life , other characters we see in a different light , there were  so many layers being peeled back within these pages .. Abbi did a wonderful job of portraying her characters with such depth and definition you couldn't help but love them, feel sorry for them and swoon along with them.

The story was well written , fluent , engrossing and dam smoking hot in places. Abbi certainly knows how to lead you along - give you crumbs and pull at your heart strings.

A great instalment in the series. !!

A Little Faith by Emma James - Book review Tour and Giveaway

Title: A Little Faith

Author: Emma James

Series: Ocean Beach

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: 9th October 2014

Cover Design : Jemina Venter

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”

~ Bob Marley

Faith was nearly fifteen when her life was torn apart, she sheltered herself from knowing anything about that fateful day.

Six years later she is older and stronger and has decided to confront this sexy brotherhood of hot men she ignored for her own survival.

Harley, Keanu, Text, Levi and Retro will reveal to Faith all is not what it seems and she will discover the level of strength these friends possess.

She will come to realize the secrets they have all been shielding her from in humorous and emotional ways.

Faith isn’t going back to Dallas in a hurry, not until she can help those that need her the most.

This is a story of new beginnings, a strong brotherhood of sexy guys and a love that has been lost along the way. It is a story with twists and surprises that will tug at your heart as well as make you laugh.

Humor is a weapon that can only last so long until life peels the layers back and what is underneath and hurting shows through.

Faith wasn’t there for them when they needed her, but she damn well will make sure she is now.

Welcome to Ocean Beach.

Sometimes you just have to have A Little Faith.

Reader Note: This is a mature aged new adult/adult contemporary romance with a difference. This novel does not contain abusive parents, on the contrary. There is no mean girl, no rape or abuse or cheating. There is however a brotherhood of guys who will make you feel a whole range of emotions.

This novel does contain strong sexual content for the mature 18+ reader.

What I will tell you is, this will be a five book series plus 2 novella's. My style is different. Readers are picking up on it. I’m not just having boy meets girl in each book and HEA, there is more, much more going on. This is a series where all characters are strongly involved in each installment.

 Book Review - 5  stars !

A Little Faith is a story with strong direction, well defined characters - outlined with a marvellously written story line and a story driven by a solid plot .

It's filled with love, heartache , friendship and faith.

This story is so realistic - a mixture of heartfelt moments , laugh out loud scenes and such a surreal mix off realism. It will draw you into the pages and into the lives of the characters from Ocean Beach.

Initially to start the first chapter is a tad slowish - the chatter and POV from Chance's perspective is a little slower to roll - but this is needed. I realized after reading and hitting that moment within the story, It gives insight into his character and thoughts as the story flows it makes perfect sense. THis is certainly not a bad thing - the story line keeps you engrossed and hooked till the very last page.

The characters are flawed, real and imperfect. We see a bond between friends that span over the years, a connection and scars within, that need to be healed and answers that need fulfilling.

We see friendships build, love bloom and romance surface. But most of all friendships growing and an understanding between them all.

Emma James paints a vivid picture within her story, both emotionally and physically. As a reader I can see and feel a bond within the characters. Giving the story line depth and definition.

I laughed, I sniffled and my heart was torn reading this story – each and every character having their own story to tell.

Ocean Beach is written from each characters POV – this gives us insight into the minds and thoughts of each character. Once again this gives the story depth – on a different level with each and every one.

This contemporary romance is a journey of remembering, healing and moving forward. Healing scars that are not only on the surface, but scars within.

The sex scenes are smoking and dam sizzling very well written and tantalizing.

The boys of Ocean Beach are all heart throbs, I loved each and every one.

Emma James has written a wonderful debut novel I look forward to more of Ocean Beach and each of the characters stories.

A Little Faith was Un - put - down - able, heart warming, full of faith - despite the heartache and Unforgettable.

I’m swiveling back and forth, searching the crowd for Harley.

“Hey, short stuff.” A deep voice slices into my thoughts from over my right shoulder.

I slowly turn around, meeting Harley’s smiling face. I may have been short once, but now I am five-foot-eight, not exactly below-average height.

I take in Harley. He’s tall—six-four, at least—and gorgeous with light brown, short hair; tanned skin; and does he have some ink work on his arms? I’m normally very curious about tattoos, but now isn’t the time to look.

I know I’m looking him up and down, but it’s been so long, and he has changed. The softer boy features have been replaced by a big, muscular, chiseled man.

I swallow.

“Wow, is that really you, Harley Madden?” I’m drinking him in. I don’t remember Harley being so big and buff. His charcoal t-shirt molds tightly to his chest like a second skin. He wasn’t this muscular the last time I saw him. His belted, black jeans and boots complete his handsome look that has quite a few people in the crowd appraising him. He looks a little dangerous in his dark clothing. He would make Will purr like the cat who got the cream. I must admit, even I’m a little taken back.

He leans in and grabs me in a bear hug, lifting me off the ground, leaving me a little breathless. My face is nestled in his neck, catching his scent of cologne and soap.

“Okay, big guy, you can stop squeezing the life out of me now,” I try to breathe out. He loosens his hold and slowly let’s go while I take a step back.

“You look amazing, Harley.” I find myself smiling. It feels good. I was worried about feeling awkward meeting Harley again after so long, but something just clicks. He was my brother’s best friend, and I’ve known him all my life. “It’s been a long time.”

“I could say the same about you. I might have to start calling you Faith.” He flashes me an amused grin, showing me perfect, white teeth and a dimple.

The baggage carousel starts up and everybody squeezes in tighter, trying to jockey for a position to get their luggage when it appears.

“Whoa!” I’m already beginning to feel less nervous having Harley here with me when I’m suddenly knocked off balance. Harley’s left arm snags me around the waist, bringing me up against his hard side. He shoots the person beside me a dirty look. Some people really do need to chill out when they travel.

I step away from him when I notice my case coming towards me.

Harley stops me with a gentle, firm hand on my arm. “I’ll get it for you, which one?”

With one, bright blue suitcase and camera bag in his hands, Harley walks me out the sliding doors of the airport and we cross to the parking garage.

The sun is shining, and my grey hoodie jacket is making me too hot. I unzip it, taking it off as I’m walking, revealing a tight white tank top. Much cooler.

Harley is staring at my chest and nearly trips over. I roll my eyes. You can never take the boy out of the man.

“Harley, are you finished staring?” I laugh a little at the look on his face. “So I grew up.”

“You certainly did,” he mutters and looks away. I could have sworn I heard him swear and mumble something about guard duty.

As we approach his vehicle, I'm stunned. wow! Harley has a black Hummer. I do my best to hide how surprised I am.

Harley stows my luggage in back, and then we climb in and set off.

The Hummer suits Harley; he is such a big, masculine guy.

“Beautiful car. Where to James?”

Harley slides on a pair of vintage aviator Ray Bans, giving me a superstar smile that is a heart stopper. “La Jolla. I have a place up on Vista De La Playa.” Harley then assures me we will be at his place in less than half an hour with the lunch time traffic.

The radio is playing Florida Georgia Line's “Cruisewith Nelly. I put my sunglasses on, roll my window down, prop my right arm up on the open window, and hold onto the outside of the car. I can’t help tapping my fingers and nodding my head to the beat, quietly singing along as the breeze blows my hair free.

I can see Harley out of the corner of my eye, stealing glances and smiling.

We don’t talk, although it’s not uncomfortable. I think we both have a lot swimming about in our heads. I’m simply taking it all in, while he knows why I’m here. He knows this isn’t easy for me.

I pull my phone out of my bag, take a quick snap of the coastline, and text Mom and Dad, attaching the pic. I let them know Harley has me, and we are heading to his place now. I then send Will a text and tell her I’ll chat in a couple days when I have something to tell her. I don’t hear back straight away.

Holy shit is all I can think the closer we get to Harley’s place. The view of the beach is incredible. As we drive higher, I’m itching to get my camera out and ask Harley to pull over so I can take some photos. We are driving past some beautiful homes, overlooking the coast. It's not long until we make a turn, and then he drives up a long driveway towards an unbelievable looking place.

“You sure you got the right address?” I know my mouth is gaping open.

Harley looks over at me then reaches out, gently pushing my chin up so my mouth closes.

“What did you do? Rob a bank!”

Harley lets out a full blown belly laugh, which makes me turn and stare at him. “No.”

Wow! The Hummer and now the house, or what I would call a freakin’ big, two-story, contemporary mansion. It’s beautiful.

And the view!

This is when I realize I don’t really know anything about Harley and where these guys have all ended up.

He sobers up, and I see him looking at the black and chrome Jeep Cherokee parked farther up the drive. His hands grip the steering wheel while his jaw tenses.

What now?

Something tells me I’m going to be meeting the guys sooner rather than later.

“So, is this the girlfriend, the ex-girlfriend, or the guys?” I joke because that’s all I know how to do when I feel cornered.

What I loved was this story has consumed me in ways I cannot explain, and has left me wanting more.

About Three Authors by Patti Roberts book review

BECKY JENSEN'S FACEBOOK STATUS UPDATE: I hate cancer! I hate my boyfriend! I hate my best friend! I Hate Christmas!

When Becky Jensen's mother died on Christmas Eve a year ago, Becky stopped believing in Christmas.

When Becky’s father remarried four weeks ago, Becky stopped believing in family. An hour ago, when Becky caught her boyfriend kissing her best friend, Becky stopped believing in love.

Heartbroken, Becky makes a wish that changes her life forever…

The very next day, she is boarding a plane at Heathrow airport and flying halfway across the world to interview three authors.

The Authors, all friends since their twenties, are now in their fifties. Not only does Becky learn about the lives of these three incredible women, she also learns a lot about herself.

Becky also discovers that all families have their secrets, and hers is no exception.

Some see a weed - I see A Wish ....

My review ..

Reading a lot of this authors work this was a tad different for me. It was not paranormal - her usual genre. But saying this I delved in turned the last page and sighed and then face booked her lol..

I have read tons of Patti's book and this one really did touch the heart. It was great - so very down to earth , so very heartwarming and touching and so very real to life.

The fact also that this book was also set in cairns where I live and The tablelands and surrounding areas I felt as though I was there within the pages. I could see the views, feel the stinky heat (haha) the sudden downpours ,, I could feel it all and see it all. Everything within was so easily envisaged

It was so surreal.

I enjoyed this read very much so , I had tears in my eyes and was so grateful no one was home to see me wiping them away. At one stage my reading was blurred but I read on .. Wanting to find out what was going to happen..

Patti has written ABOUT THREE AUTHORS = its a story filled to the brim with every emotion one could feel. We see love, loss, heartache, happiness, hate, tears of joy, tears of sadness, surprise and if you don't shed a tear within these pages something is not clicking haha.

This book was about moving on, forgiveness , and learning to live despite what life throws you. Learning to take one day at a time, to except what has been, what will be and grab an opportunity with both hands if it feels right. About living after losses of any kind. Take a chance what is there to loose ?

I personally loved the book, we see four women in this story, each with a story to tell. Within the pages we see secondary characters join in, tell there stories - which builds the solid plot and storyline that Patti has so cleverly woven.

I enjoyed all the characters that Patti has penned - from Garry - the heartthrob - to Rodger the gutter scum - and even a character you will find a change of heart to.

The storyline was fluent and grabbed me - I was whisked along with the stories of the Three Authors and certainly would love to meet them in real life. The book event would be certainly something I would be more then eager to attend and it would be fab if it was in cairns :D hint hint !!

A resort for authors to visit !! argh - hold me back !

The characters were very real to life, we all meet people we fall in love with , friends we meet and instantly click with, friends we loose in life due to circumstances , people we don't want to see again.. new friendships that never seemed doable !!

But - Patti did a fab job of creating her characters with flaws, yet also giving us such well structured characters to love and hate.

Felicity - I have to say I felt so very different about In the end. A very strong woman and I loved her in the end. I wont tell to much it will be a surprise. Why does she stick with me - I cant tell, but like I said after you have read it you will also think the same.

I had a laugh or two along the way , even amongst the tears , we find laughter and happiness. I think its important to have the perfect blend of everything within a story and this author certainly does this.

The ending was perfect. Well delivered, all loose ends tied and left me with a heavy heart filled with both joy and sadness. This will make sense once you have read it.

Would I recommend it - very much so ...

But be warned you will giggle, argh , swoon , and cry..

I had to say I was getting a tad worried in the end - my hea I was after didn't happen till the last pages, but I smiled and my eyelids fluttered and my heart soured.

This is a story that made me feel every page and many emotions. I did not expect to find this many layers in this story and every layer unveiled a solid plot with characters from the beginning to end.

Heartwarming, Enjoyable, tearjerker, story with meaning.

After by Anna Todd book review & Giveaway ..

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She's got direction, ambition, and a mother who's intent on keeping her that way. But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he's also rude - to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin and she does — until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless… could this be love?
My Review 4 stars

Seeing all the huge differences in mixed reviews, I was taken aback by some. So me being a reviewer - I am giving my personal opinion on why I enjoyed this book.. We all have an opinion and enjoy stories in different ways .. I personally really loved this story .

Tessa and Hardin's relationship from day one is a love to hate relationship. Hardin seems to work in a love, hate, hurt pattern and Tess should certainly hate him for it, in which she does. But once they shared that one kiss - It changes everything ..

But within all this happening between the characters, we see depth to as they grow within the pages and storyline.

We see Tessa bloom from a girl being sheltered and told what to do , to a woman who makes her own chooses and learns to live a little. She Discovers passion she never explored or felt before, she was daring and chose to be adventurous. She was able to spread her wings, and learn to just be more then her normal self.

She learns to make her own path - whether the choices she makes aren't always the right ones they are hers to make.

Tessa meets Hardin - he sends her knickers in a knot - physically and literally... lol

The banter and the relationship seems doomed before it starts, but this is where it builds.

Hardin is a complex character - tough - difficult - damaged and yet under the ink and the facid he is a sole that finds love when he least expects it.

Finding love leaves Hardin insecure and at times he ambushes the good things that happens to him thinking the worst will happen and his fate his doomed. His past haunts them - leaving room for doubt it is a strength of both wills for the love to survive.

Hardin is damaged and torn with these new found feelings, but finds Tessa is like a drug he cant do without.

I could refer to him as Jekyll and Hyde his nature is very much sporadic at times and like he is two different people.

Here begins a whirlwind relationship, filled with deceit , love, want, growth , heartache and angst.

The author has put forth the emotions well and very solid - at times I did feel it was a tad much .. The constant stuff ups on Hardin's behalf and the unsure status of the not relationship. But this is what builds the story ...

But saying this - love is not easy .. But dam these pair make it hard lol.

“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” Tessa.

The chemistry between Hardin and Tessa is passionate, loving and downright hot at times. The sex scenes are tasteful and just panty smoking ! I loved Hardin's foul mouth :D and I had to laugh at Tessa after her drinking binge. ( grins )

Overall I really enjoyed the writing , characters - including the secondary ones - the plot and the pace that the author set for this story .. I read this huge novel in less then a day and eagerly jumped into book 2 ~

Big thank you to Simon and Schuster for this copy for review for my honest opinion.

Temptation by K M Golland book Review

Sometimes being happily married and completely content is not at all what it seems.

That is what 35 year old, happily married mother of two, Alexis Summers finds out when she decides it is time to return to work. After being a stay-at-home Mum for the past nine years, Alexis now realises a complete career change is just what she needs.

She becomes a Concierge Attendant in a prestigious hotel in Melbourne working for the owner of the hotel, Bryce Clark. He resides in the penthouse, is extremely hot, and is a man who always gets what he wants and what he wants is Alexis.

She does a relatively good job resisting Bryce at first, but the undeniable chemistry, sexual tension, and playfulness between the two of them is intense.

Bryce has copious amounts of money, sex appeal, and above all else, is a genuinely nice guy. Bryce has been waiting for his one true love to come along, and he is positive that one true love is Alexis.

There is one problem, she is happily married to Rick. And, no matter how strong her feelings for Bryce are, she is adamant she will not cheat. She draws a line in the sand but finds it increasingly hard not to cross. Will she succumb to Temptation?
My review

** spoiler alert **

4 1/2 stars

MOVE OVER MR GREY - Bryce Clarke is in the house ;)

Alexis decides its time to venture back into the work force..

Upon arriving for Her first day , it was the beginning of a juicy and delightful whirlwind of lust and passion - a encounter filled with sexual tension and an undeniable attraction between two very different people.

I have to say Upon Meeting Bryce I think I fell in love. Rich CEO - billionaire - business man who has no qualms about  pursuing  what he wants ! I love a man who takes charge and this man certainly does. ** sigh **

His whole statue - oozes sex appeal. I loved the way the author portrayed such a imperfect man with so many perfections inside and out.

The chemistry between Alexis and Bryce is smouldering, it will send your panties on fire or your book or your e reader will over heat. ! The passion and build up between these two is combustible and even though Alexis is married, Bryce never backed down. I had to wander which way the story would go, as Alexis  seemed adamant that right or wrong nothing was going to happen..

I could not help but sigh , grin and delve into book two at the end of this story. I loved every word, the story written smoothly and An absolute delight to read..
