Catch of the Day - Kristan Higgin Book review

First date à la Maggie: Take one lovelorn diner owner (me), a generous helping of nosy local gossips, a dollop of envy at married sister's perfect life, a splash of divine intervention (my matchmaking priest). Combine ingredients with one adorable puppy, add a strong but silent lobsterman with a hidden heart of gold and watch the sparks fly.

3 1/2 stars.

Kristan Higgins Contemporary romance Catch of the Day  Is about a chatty and small town Maine diner - waitress named Maggie.  She has a crush on the town priests and to get over him starts dating others.

Between Maggie falling head over heals and shamesly for this man of god and her laugh out loud moments with Malone. Kristan Higgins kept me laughing through this entire book. It has lighthearted moments but also at one point during the read  , Maggie suffered a loss that is quiet heartbreaking and for any emotional reader may shed a few tears.

Along comes lobster man Malone who she has a quick affair but due to Malone's uncertainly she is not sure how it will pan out.

This book is funny and certainly emotionally packed. Despite the troubles Maggie had with Dating there really wasn't a lot sexual details but the chemistry certainly did bring forth  many emotions throughout the read.

Maggie has a personality that is one of a kind but I did enjoy the way in which Malone handled her through out the story line.  At times you had to shake your head at her foot in mouth comments, but non the less and interesting and amusing character at times.

I certainly give Malone 5 stars for perservance.

The only downfall in this story was the abrupt ending - I think with a few added pages in the script we as the reader could have seen what happens at a later date.

Overall verdict - Wonderfully written contemporary romance that will give you a good laugh or two.

Edge by Tiffinie Helmer Giveaway - Happy release

To celebrate the release of one of My favourite authors today I am giving one lucky winner a kindle copy , signed bookmark and Wild Men of Alaska Tattoo..

Edge was released on My birthday March 18th ,  so I figured what better way to celebrate then to give something away .

He’s lost his edge…Photojournalist Cache Calder lives to chase a great story. He's just returned from the Middle East after surviving a suicide bombing that left him injured and grief-stricken. The last thing he wants is to travel to the wilds of Alaska on a “Where Is She Now” Assignment. But when his editor informs him that his subject is former kidnapping victim, Amelia Bennett who jumpstarted his career twenty years earlier, he packs his bags.
She lives on the Edge…
Mel Bennett’s carefully maintained control unravels the moment she meets Cache Calder. Attraction flares for the man who seems to really “know” her. No one at the Edge of Reason Lodge is aware she was the young teenager who’d survived one of the most publicized kidnappings in recent history, and she wants it to stay that way. But she starts to question her heart and her sanity when unexplained incidents begin to happen and a deadly threat returns to finish what he’d started so long ago.

I have yet to read this book its on order over at Amazon - in paperback. But Im sure it will be as fantastic as the rest of Tiff's books.

A little about the  Author

Raised in Alaska, I spent many long, dark winters as a teenager escaping the forty below temperatures by penning romantic adventures. I attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks where I met a man who swept me off my mukluks and promptly married him. The 90's were spent playing mommy to four children, and on the glorious day my youngest entered kindergarten, I set up camp at the keyboard.

I write mystery/suspense (just can't keep the bad guys out) and contemporary romance (for when I need to lighten things up). Part of my year is spent landlocked in Utah and the other part commercial fishing on Alaska's Bering Sea (read HOOKED). During my landlock months, I create wheel-thrown pottery (read SHIVER), moonlight for Barnes & Noble, and race around with my top down on my convertible (read TOPLESS).

Some of my favorite things are muscle cars, sun worshiping, kayaking, fishing, and Green Tea Frappuccinos!
