Rise of the Fallen - Donya Lynne Book Review & Giveaway !

Welcome all to the Blog Tour for Rise of the Fallen by Donya Lynne .. Big thanks to PIMPIN READS - JOWANNA  for hosting this tour !! Today I have for you the hot smokin cover for this book - blurb and my Thoughts !!

In the streets of Chicago exists an uneasy, centuries-old truce between vampires and their distant cousins, a race of shifters called drecks. Vampire enforcement agency, All the King’s Men (AKM), is charged with maintaining the truce, but when volatile enforcer Micah Black loses his mate and falls into the biological agony that results from the broken bond, he tests the boundaries of the truce by seeking out Apostle, a leader in the dreck community. Micah wants Apostle to kill him, a request Apostle is more than happy to fulfill.

When ex-Army medic Samantha Garrett inadvertently disrupts the plot and saves Micah’s life, a chain reaction sets Micah’s heart on a collision course with Sam’s, but he will have to protect her from Apostle and her obsessive ex-husband, Steve, if they will have a chance at forever. Can Micah hold his emotions together to keep Sam alive.

My thoughts ...

Rise of the Fallen a certainly intriguing story title and believe me when I say an even better plot. ((I love the cover and being a cover love kinda girl this certainly does it for me) Micah is on the front cover - he is certainly smokin - and exaclty how one would invisage him after Donya Lynne's descriptions throughout this story.
Micah Black  is a vampire - working for the AKM * All the Kings men ** He is the loner of the group, doing as he pleases and disobeying any rules set forth. He is certainly the strongest of his group, kickarse  and sexy all in one story but keeps to himself alot. But does his job well.
The Akm enforce and protect from the evil that dwells, paranormal enforcers if you may call them that. Between the Dreck and Vampires. Enforcing the Truce set forth.
Upon Micha's Mate leaving him, Micah finds himself not wanting to live any longer. The bond is broken and so is his heart.   He approaches the Dreck - wants to leave this world inflicted by pain.
Sam enters Micah’s world, kick arse, strong and certainly head strong, she not only saves Micah’s life but brings him back to life. Physically and emotionally. She certainly breathes fresh air back into Micha's life. They are two souls that both need saving . But at what cost - upon Sam saving Micha's life she now has enemies of another kind.
On a whirlwind of events, Sam’s ex-husband is on the hunt for her and also her new enemies they both want her - one to punish her and one to kill her. Is Micah able to keep his emotions at bay to keep her alive and protect her?

**************
Well I must say I will never bore of a new vampire tale, Rise of the Fallen will have you intrigued from page one till the very end. I read the first four chapters for free via goodreads and was certainly intrigued to read more ..

Donya has written a storyline that will keep the readers interest piqued throughout. Changes to the vampire traits we normally see, and a  storyline  that is unique.  Witches ............ vampires ..... creating a different form of vampire - ** won’t say too much here ** and Drecks...... ((You must read to find out)) snickers - Im very curious as to Trace's part in this - we have been given a slight hint into Trace and I can see some excitement dwelling within this for other books to follow.
This book has slight traces of BDSM ** which I’m sure will not only rattle your chains but have your breathe hitched. Maybe even PANTING .....  This scene is not for everyone - but keep in mind its very mild and  exciting all the same.
M/M moments as well and erotic encounters of many kinds. If you after something with heat then this read is for you. Micha and Sam are certainly a match made between the sheets, hot smoking scenes that will not only leave you wanting more but panting past the pages that have been turned. Your reader will be in a frenzy !
This story has a well-balanced amount of everything - from hot sex,to  passion  that will singe your eyelashes ,love,  new found friendships,   action, paranormal elements and even a giggle thrown in for good measure. They say every dog has his day and that doctor certainly doesnt see it coming.. ** Soft cock is the  certainly an appropriate word for him ** snickers!!
At only 125 pages long, Rise of the Fallen is a quick read but certainly filled with all the goodies any parnanormal reader will enjoy.
A fantastic debut novel by Donya Lynne, smooth flowing storyline, characters I’m sure you will enjoy and also the evil is put forth well and depicted fluently. Many a scenes envisaged will have your panties bunching and mind a wandering .....

New characters have been introduced throughout making room for more in further books to come. I must say that Trace has me intrigued... ** blushes ** He is needing a little help and I’m wandering maybe which person is the one to do so!!  Friendships are found - and I can see Micha and Trace builidng a strong friendship in stories to come.
All the Kings Men are alluring , sexy and certainly a puzzle. Each and every one having there own personal stories to tell and  Im sure Donya Lynne will keep us on our toes - tanatlizing us in book 2 ..

I give this book 4 /5

I asked Donya Lynn - What inspired her  to write the AKM series?

I am reminded of the quote in Under the Tuscan Sun, when Frances says, “Any arbitrary turning along the way and I would be elsewhere; I would be different.”

Bear with me for a moment while I explain:

In July, 2010, I lost my job, and no amount of job searching and training for a new one helped me find one. But for as long as I can remember, I've been writing. And for years I had said that when all the debt was paid off, I would quit my job and write novels.

I had been studying to be a published author for years, working with instructors who were published who helped me hone my skills. I had read countless books and written countless assignments for my classes. This was what I wanted to do, and I wanted to do it right, but not until I could financially quit my job. So, I spent countless hours preparing over several years' time. Well, Fate made my decision for me, so to speak. Maybe the debt wasn't paid off, yet, but I didn't have a job, anymore, and couldn't find another one, so no better time than the present to put all that I'd learned into practice, right?

Only one problem: I had pretty much lost my identity after losing my job, and I sank into a mild depression. I would cry for weeks at a time. I was miserable and had no idea what I was supposed to do. I still believed I had to find a "real job." I didn't have the confidence, yet, to put my stories out there.

As time went on, I got involved in writing circles on Facebook and did some role playing and made a lot of new friends. This brought me happiness while I was suffering to find myself again. I just kept finding myself being led back to writing every time I turned around. So I started creating some characters and goofing off with them on Facebook. One character was Micah Black, and he developed quite a huge fan following.

Micah was extremely dark and dangerous, scary even, but sexy, and he was severely tragic. People seemed to love that about him. And the more I goofed off with him, the more it became clear he had a story to tell. Fan reaction convinced me that readers were ready for darker fantasy pieces like the one I was creating with Micah, so I ran with it.

Micah and I shared some commonalities, too. He was depressed, I was depressed. He felt his life was a living hell, I thought my life was a living hell. He felt desperately alone and lost, I felt desperately alone and lost. So, our adventure together began. And little by little, Micah's story began to unfold, as did mine. His life and his world began to come together at the same time mine did. Writing Micah became cathartic for me. We were in this together.

And we weren't alone, because it became clear early on that Micah was surrounded by a whole team of vampires who were just as damaged and tortured as he was. These other characters all began speaking to me, wanting me to tell their stories and solve their problems the way I was helping Micah solve his.

I sat back and looked at all these characters, wondering, What am I supposed to do with all of you? This is Micah's story, not yours. You see, Rise of the Fallen was supposed to be a stand-alone. When I started that story, that's how it was supposed to be. One character, one story. But suddenly I had all these other characters who wanted a piece of the action. Consequently, I had a series on my hands.

And that's how All the King's Men was born.

This past January, a year-and-a-half after losing my job, I got a call about a group interview a recruiter wanted me to attend. I actually had a physical reaction to the idea of going on this interview. My entire body seized up. I began crying uncontrollably. I felt sick to my stomach. My body was telling me that I wasn't meant for corporate America, anymore. That day, despite not being a very religious person, I asked God for a sign about what I should do: go on the interview or write? And I asked Him to make it an obvious one. One that I couldn't miss even if I was blind, deaf, and dumb. I received six. Decision made. It was time to become the author I was meant to be. I want AKM to be my breakout series, and I want to write books for the rest of my life.

But if I hadn't gone through all the pain and struggles I've dealt with since losing my job (and there were plenty of both, I can assure you), I wouldn't be here now. So, really, it wasn't so much an inspiration that made me create AKM as it was an absolute compulsion and a divinely written creed that I had to create it. Not just for me, but for Micah and all the other characters who have come along since I typed that first word of his story. Micah really is the leader of the AKM world, and he didn't give me a choice in the matter. He made it clear that I had to write all the stories for everyone in his world. And for that, I love him. Every writer should have a character like Micah. J Because really, HE is the inspiration.
