Queen of the Road - Tricia Stringer Book Review

Juggling two jobs, raising her four-year-old daughter alone and drowning in debt, Angela Ranger is struggling to survive. So when Angela's father offers her a job driving trucks in the tiny rural town of Munirilla, she accepts. After all, it's only temporary…

Despite taking to the road with ease, Angela finds moving to Munirilla may not be the godsend it seemed. Her accommodation is dingy, her fellow truckies are less than happy to see a woman on the road, and the locals are reluctant to use her services.

There is one local who's glad to see her, though — fill-in farm manager and loner, Coop, resists his natural tendency to avoid personal connections when he meets the efficient and gorgeous, Angela. But Coop has problems of his own — sheep are going missing, his neighbours are acting strangely and the demons of his past are urging him to move on again.

In Munirilla, both Angela and Coop will face the ultimate test of character. Will they follow reason and leave? Or follow their hearts and build a home in the small town...together.

My review

A wonderfully written story set in the Australian outback, with characters that you will enjoy much so and a storyline that will keep you engrossed till the last page has been turned.

Tricia has vividly put forth a compelling story of love, life, and the struggles to survive as a single mother and a woman who chooses to do what needs to be done to take care of her daughter and live life.

Driving trucks has always been in Angela’s life and blood – and after a turn of events she has decided to help out her father and fill in for him and drive the loads back and forth from Munirilla.

Even though the men may think it’s not a woman’s job and people will stand in her way to stop her from achieving it, Angela grinds down and never gives up.

I really enjoyed her character, she was strong willed and determined and let no one stand in her way. She was a true survivor !! The love for her child was evident and every mother can certainly relate to Angela and her turmoil at times.

We see the turmoil within life in Munirilla  for Angela to fit it in, to survive, and be happy and just do a good job for the town and also working to survive .  Here she meets and makes some wonderful friendships, and realizes that this small town has so much to offer her little family.

Queen of the Road is an enjoyable heartfelt story, with the Aussie settings down pact to a tee, wonderfully written characters, and a little romance for those who love romance entwined.

Being an Australian I really appreciated Tricia's detail for the country outback. I found this was well described and easily envisaged for all who read this story, whether or not you are an aussie or not.
It was certainly almost like looking through a looking glass.

All emotions are well put forth throughout the story, moments that will grab at your heart strings and others where you will be sheepishly grinning. The storyline was fluent flowing, with a little suspense, action, romance and heartache thrown in. Coop and Angela’s romance was sweet and gradual – and will leave you feeling content at the ending that Tricia has put forth.

A must read for all those who like a romance set in the country , with a wonderful close nit community woven throughout – friendships, drama and all the goodies within the story that any reader will certainly enjoy .

Guest post with Kate Cuthbert - Escape Publishing

Thanks so much for having me here at Page Flipperz today. Fabulous cat-eye masks are optional, right? Because all I've got is a slightly used highway man-with-a-desperate-repuation-destroying-secret mask:

Kate - Can I still come and tell you about my seriously to-die-for job?
Kat - For sure Kate thanks for stopping by today would love to hear about your fab job !

So, my name is Kate and I'm Managing Editor of Harlequin Australia's new digital-first arm Escape Publishing. It's my role to read submissions and decide which awesome books we're going to publish.

We launched on Wednesday the 14th of November with five titles. I've been waiting to talk about these titles for ages, and I'm so thrilled to finally be able to talk about them! Probably the most important thing to mention is that each of these titles is on sale for a very limited time, and our erotic novella Chains of Revenge is available free. So if you want to give us a try (and we hope you do!), now is a great time to check us out.

Chains of Revenge – Keziah Hill: a very hot, very dark, very addictive erotic fantasy novella about a slave in sexual bondage who rises to become a Warlord – and take his revenge on the woman who broke his heart.

Chaos Born – Rebekah Turner: a very smart, very complex, surprisingly funny, wholly engrossing urban fantasy debut about a mercenary with a secret so dark even she doesn't know about it – but secrets are meant to be revealed. This novel introduces the gaslit world of the Applecross, its many layers, characters, and the militant religious order that seeks to control it all.

Christmas Wishes – Rhian Cahill: a very sexy, very steamy, surprisingly sweet and light-hearted holiday story about best friends realising that all they really want for Christmas is each other!

Grease Monkey Jive – Ainslie Paton: a lovely, slow-building, meaty, get-your-teeth-in, contemporary romance about a ballroom dance teacher, a mechanic, a dance competition, $50 000, friendships, family, and the power of a little sizzle.

In Safe Hands – Lee Christine: a very polished, very smart, very contemporary Sydney-set, sophisticated romantic suspense novel about a highly successful lawyer threatened by a youthful indiscretion and the ex-SAS Commander that she recruits to help her.

There you have them! So please make sure you let us know what you think! Each of the books has a survey in the back, but you can also get in touch with us (and get more information) on our website,, or via a variety of social media.

Tied Down - Kacey Hammell Spotlight

Tied Down

Kacey Hammell

The time has come for Brady Jacobs to grab hold of the woman he loves and their future. But his lady, Isabella Knowles, is skittish. She’ll bolt at the mention of a future with him. He needs to handle her with precise planning, tools to seduce and never give her a moment to flee.

Brady will tie her down, pleasure her, push her farther than she’s ever experienced…then ask her to marry him. But no amount of planning can ensure Bella’s answer won’t include the business end of her Glock.

About the Author:

The writer: Canadian author, Kacey Hammell is a multi-published erotic romance author who writes mainly in the Contemporary Erotic/Romantic Suspense genres.  She is a true romantic at heart.

The Wife and Mom: Born, raised and still living in her hometown in Ontario, Canada, Kacey found true love with her husband.  As a Mom of three, Kacey has made certain that each of her children know the value of the written word and the adventures they could escape on by becoming book-a-holics in their own right.

Isabella stirred at a tug on her ankle. She shifted, not in any way eager to wake up.

Snuggling her cheek deeper into the pillow, she sighed. The web of slumber curled around her as she relaxed again.

At the shuffle of footsteps and a thump, she stirred. Her eyes flew open and she lifted her head. As she shifted to her side, she gasped.

Why couldn’t she move?

Jesus, what the hell?

Danger screamed through her mind while she took in the room around her. Right where she’d fallen asleep, in Brady’s bed.

No need to fear for her safety. Right?

“What the fuck is this?” Damn the bindings around her wrists and feet. “Brady!” she screamed. She’d kill the bastard who dared to enter their personal space. Cripes, if he’s been hurt, she’d carve out their hearts and throw the bodies in the ocean.

“I’m right here, babe.”

His head appeared over the foot of the bed. Her heart skipped a beat. Safe. Her head fell back in relief. She’d die if something happened to him. Could never relive him ever being hurt again. She’d barely survived once before when he’d been stabbed and almost blown to bits. She did not ever want to go through anything like it again.

“You okay, babe? These scarves aren’t too tight, are they?”

So lost in her own thoughts, she forgot she lay there, tied like some prisoner.

“What the hell? What’s going on?” He knelt at the end of the bed. She gaped as she took in her naked body, the scarves holding her legs and arms captive. Her heart rate accelerated. She had no control over any of this. Desperate to get out of the ties and the situation, she pulled hard, jerked her limbs to escape their captivity.

“Fuck! Goddamn it. Let me loose.”

The Devils Pawn - Elizabeth Finn SPOTLIGHT

The Devil’s Pawn

Elizabeth Finn

When Ashton is left orphaned after her parents are murdered, her life becomes a hell she could never have imagined. Left to fend for herself, and responsible for a debt she doesn’t owe, she is swept into a life as a gentleman’s escort at a private men’s gaming hall. Her new manager makes it abundantly clear he doesn’t appreciate her inexperience, innocence, and shyness. On the contrary, he despises everything about her.

Derek can be “difficult,” she’s been told. And however dark and handsome he may be, he terrifies her in a way that chills her to the bone, but leaves her begging to understand him. As they are pulled along together, more secrets and threats than either one could ever conceive are revealed, and a common enemy emerges. This enemy will stop at nothing to bring Derek to his knees while using Ashton as the greatest pawn in his torturous game.

Will Derek be able to let down his shield of cold, harsh emotion before it’s too late? Will he be able to sacrifice himself to save Ashton, or will they both be destroyed by the secrets of their pasts?

About the Author:

Elizabeth Finn is an Iowa native, where she lives with her husband and son. By day, Elizabeth is a Human Resources Specialist, but by night, she checks her professionalism at the door and immerses herself in the world of writing erotic romance. Look for more to come from Elizabeth Finn.

Once in the fitting room, Derek takes the chair again while I start to remove my clothes. I intentionally wore ugly, stretched-out, white cotton underwear that is entirely too big on me in the event he should be here. My mouth isn’t the only thing that can get me into trouble—my sarcasm knows no bounds when I’m unhappy.

As he sees the appalling excuse for an undergarment, his eyes move up to mine, narrowing darkly at my obvious defiance. I look coolly back at him before looking away dismissively. My anger and resentment of him from the humiliation he subjected me to the previous morning, not to mention his treatment of me over the past two weeks, have charged me into a bold, fiery bitch that no longer cares what retribution I might face. While my tongue usually gets me in trouble, today I decided to let my underwear do the talking.

Jacob enters with an armful of dresses for me to try on, and he cringes as he takes in my defiant granny panties, hated the world over by men, including, apparently, gay men.

He turns to Derek, and with a scrunched-up face, he worries out loud. “The dresses aren’t going to lay right over those…” He tosses a nod in my general direction.

Derek wastes no time at all reassuring Jacob and striking back at me. “No worries. Ashton was just taking them off. She won’t be wearing underwear anymore.”

I glare defiantly back at him as I drop the loose fabric to the floor. He returns the glare for a moment before letting his gaze travel down my body to my sex, and as it lands there, smoldering with heat, I turn abruptly from him, intentionally showing him my backside instead. I look to the mirror in front of me, and I catch his eyes flit away from me in annoyance. He worries his lip with his thumb and index finger as he contemplates, and the slightest of smirks crosses over his mouth. Jacob is standing by looking from one to the other of us, obviously wondering just exactly what he’s gotten himself in the middle of.

Derek finally looks back to Jacob. “Get on with it.”

I try on one after the other of the dresses. Some are perfect; Jacob pins in additional alterations in others. Derek sits by bored, only glancing up from his cell phone occasionally. One such occasion is when Jacob remarks that I’m “just not curvy enough for this one.”

Derek looks up to Jacob, but he shifts his eyes to mine before commenting, “Yes, well, if you can figure out some way of making her look female, you let me know.”

Jacob again lets his eyes pass between us, seeming to wonder all the while what he’s missing. As I hold Derek’s eyes with my own, my anger falters, and the pain that is behind my fury pushes through. I try to wrangle my tears into submission, but it’s no use. In defeat, first one, and then another spills from my eyes and slides down my cheeks. Jacob regards my state and excuses himself from the room.

I stand on the hemming block in the center of the room, refusing to look at Derek. But he’s looking at me, and as my hurt continues to work through my entire body, I let my tongue do what it does best. “Why do you hate me so much?”

He says nothing, but stands and moves to me. Reaching around behind me, he pulls the zipper of the dress down, and then, returning his hands to my shoulders, he pulls the straps down, exposing first my small breasts, and then the rest of my naked body as it falls to the floor.

He leans in to my ear and speaks. “You don’t know anything about me.” He then takes me by the hand and pulls me to stand in front of the mirror, and leaning to my ear once more as I watch him in the mirror, he speaks gently. “Lean forward and put your palms on the mirror.”

Blood Trails by Sharon Sala Book Review

Her ‘father's' deathbed confession reveals that Holly's real father was almost certainly the notorious serial killer known as The Hunter, and that her mother gave Holly up to save her life. But The Hunter was never caught — and Holly's mother simply vanished.

In search of her past, Holly leaves both her home and Bud Tate — the handsome ranch foreman she's afraid to love — horrified by the knowledge that the blood of a depraved killer might run through her veins. Haunted, driven, she searches for The Hunter in the hope her mother was wrong.

But her search leads to a terrible truth no one could have imagined. Even Bud's determination to follow and protect the woman he loves may not be enough to save Holly from the terrors of her past.

My review

3 stars

Holly goes back to her old hometown and finds her father. What she doesn't know at that time - is that her father is on the hunt again and also found her as well.

Not a lot really happened within the storyline. The storyline was  a tad too predictable, and very fast paced,  as in it all happens rather quickly.

I haven’t read the previous books in the series, but found the storyline easy to follow. If you after a romance then this book is not for you, it’s quiet -  not a lot of suspense either. The storyline held no real surprises, I do intend to go and read the first two books in the series.

The mystery and suspense I felt no urgency within the storyline. The story was interesting but certainly a book I wouldn’t read in one sitting or was compelled to go back and read in a hurry.

Holly was a strong character, mostly  throughout the story and Bud was adependable and was there for Holly. I did enjoy this part ;) I did like Bud and Holly however. The relationship was quiet  difficult at times , in the sense of they both feared  rejection.

I enjoyed Sala’s writing; she has no qualms in putting pen to paper. The settings were well written with vivid descriptions.

This book was suppiled to me for review for my honest opinion

Submission Therapy is the story about Natasha, CEO of Blakely Incorporated, hard assed, compulsive control freak who is a hot mess underneath it all. Her therapist, Derek Benson, insists she participate in a non-traditional form of treatment after little success with conventional therapy. She is to give up all control and submit to the desires of "Master Sweet."

My review,

Submission Therapy will leave your breathe baited, your heart skipping a beat and your toes curling and mabye even your butt cheeks clenching in anticpation as well. (( grins ))

Submission therapy is a quick erotic read and an  introduction into the world of BDSM and pleasure and pain and  At only 30 pages long, it will certainly have you grasping at your reader as the pages unfold. It contains elements of BDSM - Bondage , Submissive Therapy and much more.

I wont go into the storyline much, but I have to say that Master Sweet - was definelty a sweet treat. The author ladies have given us a quick fix and intro into the world of BDSM by showing us that some of us need certain things in life to let go. Keeping in mind , that it is consensual and that Natasha is here by choice. A little twist thrown in that was certainly a welcomed surprise for me as a reader.

I enjoyed the characters that were put forth. Even Natasha with her smart mouth. She was certainly shown her place - This I enjoyed . (( grins )) It seems a little therapy will do a world of good for some in more ways than one. Her Doctor knew this and by the end it was her last chance for help.

The storyline and dialogue were smooth flowing and well written.

The only problem with it ,, I wanted more................

A sweet treat for all. A little therapy never hurt anyone ;) great start to a three part series.

This book was suppiled to me via the author for an honest review and my thoughts.

“If your spirit is the equal of your body...” He ran his fingers across my shoulders and down the gully of my spine. “...then it will be a rare pleasure breaking you in.”

Despite my initial apprehension, his words and his touch sent a thrill through me.

He moved from behind me and my back suddenly felt cold. I watched his muscular form as he prowled to the chair, and admired his grace as he mounted it.

“Bind her. Bring her to me.”

Chloe appeared beside me with a length of smooth rope in her hands. My instincts cried out to run, to fight, but I bit down on them. I could see where this was heading and…and I wasn’t sure I hated it.

With practiced efficiency, Chloe had my wrists secured in under a minute. She led me over to Master Sweet and handed him the loose end of rope.

“Slave, lay across my lap.”

I couldn’t help it. I hesitated. This was so new to me. He curled the rope around his wrist and pulled steadily, with a strength I couldn’t resist. With Chloe’s help he had me prone across his lap, my bare ass angled out and vulnerable. My heartbeat sped with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Even though there was something so degrading about being put over someone’s lap, there was a part of me that found it...invigorating. I wasn’t about to let him know I felt that way, though. I held my tongue and watched blankly as Chloe worked, binding me in place.

She took the rope and fed it through the eyelet at the base of the chair, leading it underneath and through a matching eyelet on the other side. She walked around and crouched behind me. From my angle I could only see her hands taking the rope, but I could sense her body heat on the backs of my thighs, feel her breath tickling across my ass…and everywhere else. I wondered if she was there to do more than just tie knots.

The rope’s firm grip around my right knee took me out of that reverie. I watched as Chloe fed the rope back through the loop and then around my left knee. I understood the chair’s construction much better now. Looped around it, with Master Sweet’s strong legs as a cushion, I had nowhere to go. Intriguingly, there was still enough slack in the rope that I could spread my knees apart.

“Look in the mirror.”

I raised my head and stared. I barely recognized myself. In the low light, my black hair almost blended with the room. I could see enough to know it was a mess, though.

He slipped his hand onto my ass and rested it there, soft, unmoving. The deceptively light touch sent chills rippling across my body.

“You’ve earned a spanking for your disobedience. You will watch as your punishment is delivered, and you will count the strokes.”

My breath hitched in my chest. Spanking. I hadn’t had one of those since I was a little girl. So demeaning, and yet the thought of it sent heat rushing between my thighs. There was a part of me that longed for it. In a world where I constantly had to think at least six to twelve months ahead, a consequence that was both immediate and tangible somehow felt like a luxury.

He raised his hand, cocked it like a gun. I followed the movement instinctively, admiring the pure power of it, knowing full well that its force was about to come crashing down on me.

“No. Look into your own eyes.”

I did as instructed. My mouth hung open as I tried to catch my breath, which had begun racing. I clenched my muscles and squeezed my thighs together, waiting for what came next.

The blow, when it landed, cracked like a pistol shot. For the slightest instant all I felt was the jolt through my body. My vision blurred with the impact. Then the sting bloomed on my ass and began to tingle. I watched my own mouth stretch, listened as my breath hissed in. I would not cry out.

“Count it!” he demanded.

Willsin Rowe

Willsin Rowe falls in love with a scent, a playful expression or an act of casual intimacy more easily than with physical beauty. When confronted by any combination of those elements he is a lost cause. He has done many things over and over, done even more things only once, and half-done more things than he cares to admit. He loves to sing and doesn't let his voice get in the way. He is intelligent but not sensible. He is passionate but fearful. He is not scruffy enough or stylish enough to be cool.

Willsin is also the author of Hunger, The Three Day Hump and Lightning.

Christmas time in Brisbane is always so hot and muggy you could drink it from a bowl.
Brett Freeman feels the heat like anyone, but for more than 15 years it’s been nothing to do with the climate and everything to do with Corinne. Only one thing stands between Brett and his perfect woman: her husband, Darren.
Despite that stumbling block, Darren and Corinne consider Brett their best friend. They’ve watched in despair as he’s tossed away good relationships simply because, in his mind, no woman could ever compare to Corinne.
Then, one muggy Christmas Eve, a friendly visit takes a bizarre turn. Secrets are shared, an incredible present is offered, and for Brett, life will be changed forever.
Every beginning comes from an ending.
The Three Day Hump
Luther has a solid career as a lawyer and is married to a famous lingerie model. His life has grown comfortable, and he can’t remember how it felt to truly want something…anything.
Opal is young, debatably single, and has lived a life poor in everything but experience. She exudes a lush darkness and it draws Luther to her.
He suddenly remembers desire.
Their flirting turns physical; lust turns to obsession, obsession to addiction. They can’t see a future, but they can think of nothing but the present. They don’t know how to stop, they only know they need to.
An urban myth tells that three days of abstinence will break the back of an addiction. They hole up together in a hotel for a long weekend.
Can their addiction be beaten? Maybe. But first, they need to make it over the three-day hump.
From the fun and frivolous to the poignant and deeply personal, this collection of flash and short erotic fiction has a little taste of everything. Tales of crossed paths and crossed lines; of fate and fancy; changes, chances and choices.
With flash stories boiled and brewed until only the essence remains, and longer works that simmer and spit, you’re sure to find something to tickle you right where you need it. And with author commentary before each story, you could call this the director’s cut!
but it made sense perfect sense and I look forward to more from this dynamic duo!
