Reign of Blood - Alexia Purdy **Book Review **

Never tease anything that wants to eat you. My name is April Tate and my blood is the new gold. Vampires and hybrids have overrun my world, once vibrant with life, but now a graveyard of death shrouded in shadows. I fight to survive; I fight for my mother and brother. The journey is full of turns that I am quite unprepared for. And I'm just hoping to make it to the next Vegas sunrise..."

In a post-apocalyptic world, a viral epidemic has wiped out most of the earth’s population, leaving behind few humans but untold numbers of mutated vampires. April is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in the remains of Las Vegas one year after the outbreak. She has become a ferocious vampire killer and after her family is abducted, she goes searching for them. What she finds is a new breed of vampire, unlike any she has seen before. Unsure of whom she can trust, she discovers that her view of the world is not as black and white as she once thought, and she's willing to bend the rules to rescue her family. But in trying to save them, she may only succeed in bringing her fragile world crashing down around her.

My review .

That alone had me hooked to read on!! How often do you pick up a book where the first few words grip at you and lure you in!! Like a drug I needed more !! ** snickers **

If you’re after Kick arse - action packed Vampire story then April is the new Buffy. She is strong willed - strapped with arms and weapons and on a mission every day of her human life. That girl can surely wield a machete!!

A virus has taken over the city - in order to survive April and her family must hunt to survive. April's worst nightmare has taken place - her family have gone missing and now she is on a vendetta to get them back.

After a whirlwind of events, April meets a new form of Vampires - where here they tell her blood is like gold. She finds out more than she bargined for , including why she has survived so long.
On an action packed adventure for not only survival - April meets Rye, he is of the new species where together Rye and his team embark on a kill and attack mission to get back April's family from the neighbouring Hive.

My thoughts!!!

Wow - After reading Alexia's other series, this is definably in a world of its own. Alexia has procreated a new warp on vampires, introducing us to  a new and unique storyline I’m sure that anyone who enjoys a vampire story will like this.

It’s filled with a kick arse female = April who is tough and rough = kills, to survive and does not hold back one bit. Like I said in the beginning ** Move over BUFFY ** lol.. I loved April's character!! Nothing quite like a strong willed female who lets nothing stand in her way!

The first 80 pages or so - we are involved in a lot of April's fight and flight with the vampires. It’s filled with emotions, fights, action, and lots of full on scenes that are very well put forth. April loses her family and shit literally hits the fan. April begins her rampage to find them, Watch out to all the **  Vampires ** in her way. Blood , guts and she certainly lights up there lives !!!

Alexia has introduced new aspects into this story - many different types of Vampires- different traits to go with and this alone I found intriguing and  refreshing!!

A little bit of romance is thrown in for the reader whom enjoy a little heart throb in a read. Rye was certainly dreamy - I’m hoping Alexia has another book in mind for us. I’d like to see how this all pans out!  ** I know its the romantic in me coming out lol **

Overall, an action packed story filled with lots of blood and killing, and a new spin on the vampire stories currently shelved atm.

A lot of vivid descriptions throughout! Giving us more than enough detail of April's kills and many other scenes put forth. Even to the extreme of the stench - ** holds nose here ** lol.
Reign of Blood will certainly suit anyone who enjoys urban fantasy - a story that nightmares are made of and a world filled with anomalies and alterations not like any current vampire stories written.

4 out of 5 drops of blood today for Regin Of Blood..

Ties to The Blood Moon - Robin P Waldrop Book Review

Genevieve is a teenage girl who moves in with her aunt in Alaska after the death of her mother. Soon after her arrival she learns the things she was raised to believe only existed in fairytales are in fact a big part of her history. When it gets to be too much she seeks refuge in the arms of her new boyfriend, William, only to find out he's not who she thought he was either.

My Thoughts.

Ties to the Blood Moon is a well delivered and intriguing storyline - a new spin on the normal werewolf  - vampire tale and certainly kept me interested from beginning to end. It’s filled with lots of action, betrayal, romance, and lots of kick arse scenes. Anyone who enjoys a paranormal read will definably enjoy this story.
The characters are well defined and likeable - the fighting and action scenes vivid and well described. Gen was a very likeable character and grew into her new found life at an acceptable rate. Robin has slowly eased Gen into this not wham bam thank you mam and she is tough as nails ** lol. **
The characters are certainly likeable - all well developed and introduced throughout the story, each and every one having their place within the story. I loved Jo - I would have picked him but William was also a hotty.. Such a hard choice lol.. I really enjoyed the werewolf traits put forth in this story and of course being a vampire lover I enjoyed all those aspects to !!!
I did see slight resemblences to Twilight during this read, certain flits here and there but this did not deter me at all from liking the story. It did contain a story of its own.

Robin has taken us on a rollercoaster ride in this story - it’s filled with twists and turns at every corner keeping the reader guessing through the entire read. When we think we have worked out what will happen next Robin has thrown us in a completely different direction.
The dialogue was well put forth with a great storyline to boot. I will certainly be looking for more of Robins work in the near future.

Tome Travel - Believe LIke A Child - Paige Dearth & Giveaways

Alessa is just seven years old when her uncle rapes her for the first time. As the years pass, his sexual appetite becomes more voracious and his perversion more twisted, until the abuse has become almost a daily ritual, with the unspoken involvement of the girl’s mother.
At the age of sixteen, after the death of her only friend, Alessa finds herself at the mercy of her real-life monster, with no relief in sight. She flees her home to escape this hell, only to find herself descending into a more dangerous one. Alone and helpless in the streets of North Philadelphia, she encounters more human predators who want to take over her life and devour her. About to hit rock bottom, Alessa manages to break away from her new tormentors and finds refuge in a shelter for homeless and abused women.
Wherever she goes, however, trouble keeps seeking her out, until she meets three people who change the course of her life forever. Though Alessa’s bittersweet journey is perpetually fraught with challenges, she does, nevertheless, manage to find fleeting moments of joy along the way. But as she begins to settle down, a ghost from the past comes to haunt her again, threatening to destroy the very foundation of her small world and plunging her back into an abyss of despair, until she makes her final bid for escape.

Born and raised in Plymouth Meeting, a small town west of Philadelphia, Paige Dearth was a victim of child rape and spent her early years yearning for a better life. To escape the unwanted attentions of her molester, a pedophile uncle who lived with the family, she married at the age of nineteen and moved with her new husband to Chula Vista, California. After two years of marriage during which she struggled to make ends meet, she became pregnant, only to discover that her husband was a heroin addict. Paige waited for the birth of her daughter and when the baby was just eight months old, moved back to Pennsylvania. With no formal education or money to fall back on, she courageously set out to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and make it whole once more.
Living through the fear and isolation of her youth, Paige developed the ability to create stories that would help her cope and finally put them to use by embarking on a series of novels. Believe Like A Child, the author’s debut offering, is the darkest version of who she could have become, had fate not intervened in the nick of time. It presents a fine balance between what lives on in her imagination and the evil that lurks in the real world.

Emma’s first childhood memory of being beaten by her father, Pepper, was when she was just five years-old. Resentful that he had to sacrifice his life for a woman he barely knew and a child he never wanted, Pepper holds Emma responsible for his failure to achieve the life he once imagined for himself. As time passes, his intolerance of Emma grows and his physical and verbal abuse escalates beyond the imaginable.
For years Emma questions why her mother Valerie doesn’t stop Pepper from tormenting her. Instead, her mother sits by silently, secretly grateful that it is her daughter, and not herself, who is left to endure Pepper’s abuse. At the height of Emma’s agony she begs her mother to intervene, but is left to deal with the unbearable situation on her own.
Pepper’s coldblooded beatings develop in Emma an overwhelming sense of revenge that comes to lay the foundation of the person that Emma becomes. As Emma grows older and more resourceful, she reaches a breaking point with her father. No longer able to control the impulse to fight back, she finally takes matters into her own hands.
Having learned the art of hate from her father and the mastery of manipulation from her mother, Emma sets out to make a better life and leave the beaten child that she once was behind her. Emma’s strong will to survive and uncanny ability to even the score with people who do her wrong, catapult her to the brink of isolation and back.
Emma becomes a strong woman who endures the heartless brutality of the people that she meets. Her determination to have a normal life and her insurmountable courage to protect the people that she loves delivers her into dangerous situations where she is required to do whatever it takes to survive. At last, she is able to find happiness in small doses as her instincts take over and lead her to better things. Nevertheless, her most thrilling moments comes only when she finds retribution.

Some questions For Paige

Interview Questions
1.      When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
When I was 22 years-old I was with a friend who loved to listen to my stories.  She told me I should write a book.  While the thought appealed to me, I had no idea how to go about writing a novel.  After I finished my college degrees, I had the confidence I needed to write, but was busy earning a living and had little time to invest in writing.
As I got older the desire to write increased.  I talked about writing my first novel for many years then I read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (thank you, Rhonda!).  I finally sat down and wrote my novel.  It took me three months to write the novel and nine months to edit, reedit and edit again.
2.      Who is your intended readership?
Adults who enjoy reading gut wrenching, dramatic, fast paced fiction.  The novel is sexually explicit and intended for the mature reader.  The narrative is constructed with gripping and suspenseful moments that are meant to pull the reader along, almost against their will.  The novel will appeal to men and women who enjoy a good tale.
3.      What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I love to read.  A few of my favorite authors are: John Saul, James Patterson, Danielle Steel and Patricia Cornwell.  I also enjoy Stephen King novels and I just loved Misery and Thinner.  The first novel I ever read was A Woman of Substance by Barbara Taylor Bradford.  This is my all time favorite novel!
I love to go on vacation, exercise and cook. Cooking is one of my passions. I get satisfaction from creating new recipes through trial and error.  My husband is the guinea pig for my new creations.

Check out the book trailor below

My thoughts

No remorse is the debut Novel of Marylynn Bast - I must say I was impressed at the story put forth, unique and certainly one of a kind. The concept of A werewolf having capabilities of no other was very intriguing and this alone kept my interest piqued, and a female to boot. !!! Who doesnt like a strong heroine !!
Her character put forth was certainly strong willed and capable of anything. Amber was kick arse, strong and very self sufficient relying upon only herself and being a loner in life. Amber finds it hard to blend in - making new pack life not easy for her mentally, but in time with Blake by her side things go better than she ever anticipated.

Amber stumbles upon a wrecked truck thinking she is going to get her next meal, to find the driver behind the wheel is the guy she walked away from ten years prior. Certainly did not see that coming !!! I think at this part, my heart was also pounding with Ambers ** lol **

I enjoyed Blake's character, the head of his pack the leader - and Alpha male ,  Strong, and  a man with all good intentions for his people and his life. Upon meeting Amber again all his feeling have only grown stronger. The chemistry between Amber and Blake was certainly a panty buncher for Amber , never before has she felt so strongly or wanted a man so much. The lovin between Amber and Blake was certainly ** like a fire ignited ** smokin hot - filled with lust, passion and love ** sparks flighing everywhere **   Hot love scenes that will makes your eyelashes flutter and heart pump. Marylynn has certainly put forth the sexy scenes and filled them  with the right amounts of emotion and at times very vivid descriptions ** waggles eyebrows **.

The concept of Amber having different capabilities was well done, this was put forth well, and certainly intriguing.

I found at  the beginning it was a tad slow -  I was a little held back ,,,,,  but rest assured after the first few chapters,  and the back story introduced,  you will be eager to find out more.  Storyline was alot of back story into Amber's past, but this also essential into the new life that Amber must go forth with.  This meshed out well towards the end to give us an unpredictable ending,  some good twists and turns throughout.  A great start to a new series. I'm eager to know where Adam's part comes in and also some of the other characters put forth.

For all the paranormal readers out there whom enjoy an intriguing storyline, filled with smokin sex scenes ** wink wink ** and wonderfully delivered characters then this read is for you.!!
Marylynn has put this forth well, to give the story and the love between the characters that spark and sizzle we like to see ! Action packed, Vampire - Werewolves, Witches - and much more !

4 stars !
