Ever shade - Alexia Purdy * A Dark Fairie Tale 1 **

Alexia Purdy has branched out and got herself a new publisher !! New cover and new book names !!! I must say the cover doesn't affect my enjoyment of the first book but I have to say I do love the new cover !!!  Just gorgeous !!!!  Find as follows the hot new spiffed up cover for Ever Shade and my book review !!!

Just to add before my review Alexia is one of those authors whom always finds time for her fans. Loves to interact, just ask how your day has been or make a comment on  a post over at face book !! She is very friendly and rest assured if you have any questions about her books or just want a chat she is always eager !! I really love that about this author she is more than just interested in your review - she interacts with her fans as well !

A dark twist on Faeries. For Shade, a chance meeting with a powerful Teleen faery warrior who wields electrical currents and blue fires along his skin- has her , joining him on a treacherous mission for the good Seelie Faerie Court across the land of Faerie. Magic and malice abound and nothing is what it really seems to be.

The evil Unseelie Queen and her treacherous allies are round every corner as Shade makes her way across the breathtaking landscapes of the world of Faerie, which exists alongside the mundane human world. Shade discovers her own uncharted magic and meets some of the most powerful warriors in Faerie while battling evil dryads, conniving Teleen guards and challenges on her life with every step in a world where nothing can be taken for granted.

My thoughts !!

<> <><>
I'm not normally one to read books on Faeries but I must say this one had me intrigued from page one till the end. Its filled with mystery, action and magic and a compelling storyline that I read in one sitting.

Steady paced storyline, with a great cast of supporting characters, chapters that flowed smoothly and an intriguing plot. I enjoyed the determination of the main characters, her life was not as it seemed. She always thought she was different and upon meeting Jack her life was thrown into a world she never thought existed.

Shade always new something was different - the voices within, had no real meaning until she met Jack. Upon Jack discovering Shade and her hearing voices, he takes her back to his world where Shade is told she is the key to saving his land. Here Shade discovers she is Part Fae - but Shade is in denial.

Feeling somewhat pressured yet compelled to help, Shade embarks on a trip to the fountain to obtain the liquid that will save this land of Fae and stop the wars within.

Twists and turns are thrown at Shade and along her travels, she is introduced to many - some evil, some good, she learns to embrace what she has within. Shade discovers her blood lines, and along the way she also discovers how to use the magic within.

This is just the beginning of an intriguing series, I alone rated it on Alexia's compelling storyline. As I have not read many books on Faeries I really enjoyed it. The addition of the Teleen line was certainly a treat and the fact that Shade was immune to it even more os.. Interim blue is filled with action, adventure, mystery, magic and mayhem and I'm sure for all the readers out there who enjoy Faeries then this is for you..

I eagerly await book 2 to see where Shade and Dylans relationship goes, I'm hoping that we see a little more depth into the characters, and the connection between the worlds = will Shade return home to normal teenage life ?

I rated this 4/5 - with likeable characters, intriguing storyline and fluent flowing dialogue Alexia will not only draw you into her world but into the pages with her characters !!

Bitten by Dan O' Brian Book Review

It’s been awhile since I have read a thriller -horror story and I must say I was intrigued by Dan O' Brian's story Bitten. I enjoyed the writing style, fluent flowing and very well detailed storyline. The descriptions are vivid and easily envisaged, many a scene may even cause your hairs on your arms to stand on end and Even certain scenes will make you cringe. The horrific parts will have your heart racing and your blood pumping along with the characters and victims in this story.

BITTEN

A predator stalks a cold northern Minnesotan town. There is talk of wolves walking on two legs and attacking people in the deep woods. Lauren Westlake, resourceful and determined F.B.I Agent, has found a connection between the strange murders in the north and a case file almost a hundred years old. Traveling to the cold north, she begins an investigation that spirals deep into the darkness of mythology and nightmares. Filled with creatures of the night and an ancient romance, the revelation of who hunts beneath the moon is more grisly than anyone could have imagined.

My thoughts !

A  predator  -killer roams the small town On Minnesotan, there is talk of wolves, or bears roaming the bush and killing and attacking people deep within the woods. Vicious deaths have taken place and Lauren Westlake is in the town at the right place. She is F B I, very knowledgeable and was brought to this town by chance that the strange murders all had a connection.

Lauren and the Sergeant of the town begin an investigation that brings about more than any of them could possibly imagine. Creatures of the night are discovered and hundreds of years of Myths and nightmares are brought forth. Lauren finds more than what she ever bargained for.

Dan O' Brian has blended his storyline well, giving the reader, equal amounts of horror, suspense, intrigue and even a little romance within a climax that will have the reader on the edge of their seat !!! Slight humour was added in to give you a giggle - the condiment girl had me smirking. I was drawn into this book within the first few chapters and could say I read this in almost one sitting. I would recommend this to all who enjoy a paranormal filled with horror, and werewolves it is quiet detailed - at times filled with gore, but do keep in mind it has a great scripted storyline to boot. Graphic language is also present so if this offends then this book is not for you !!

I look forward to more of Dan's books in this series; the ending now has me more curious than ever as to where Lauren is on her next Field trip. Am also hoping she may also come across her wolf man somewhere in the future. ** being a romantic at heart - I enjoyed the romance put forth between Lauren and her wolf man, lustful, and delicious ** what can I say! I’d run with wolves any day!!!

4 1/2 stars !!

The Last Beginning - Rachel Firasek Book Review

Well its sad to see such a wonderful series come to and end. The Three book series *The Curse of the Phoenix's * was a wonderful series and Rachel Firasek has wrapped up the series wonderfully ! Find the gorgeous cover , blurb and my thoughts...

Though she’s always hated being a phoenix, Sadie has to admit immortality has its advantages. She’s seen and done more in the last 150 years than she’d ever dreamed of, but she can’t get past the fact that Osiris has done nothing but manipulate her and her fellow phoenixes. Or that, when her last incarnation as a phoenix comes to a fiery end, the fire slowly begins to consume her body.

Sun god Osiris is ashamed of his role as ruler of the Underworld, but unless he can figure out how to save Sadie, that’s exactly where she’s going to end up.

Permanently. Terrified he’s going to lose her, he takes her on a hunt for The Book of the Dead, which is the only way he knows he can save her—even if it means she’ll hate him forever.

My thoughts

(( Don't you just love the cover )) Being a cover Love Kinda girl this one is just gorgeous !!

Book three of the Curse of the Phoenix series *The Last Beginning * is a wonderfully delivered story. With characters that will draw you into the pages and a plot that will have you reading from beginning to end , sighing in contentment at a well scripted ending to a fantastic trio.

If you have read the first two books it gives you the storyline of the phoenixes, but I especially enjoyed the fact that Rachel filled us in with this story on how Sadie became a phoenix. I wasn’t sure to be angry and Osiris or feel sorry for him. Loving someone and not wanting to let go - he turned her into a phoenix for his own reasons.

In The Last Beginning we see a love - hate relationship between the pair but in time as Sadie grows weaker and her flame is taking over she sees Osiris for a different man rather than a God whom doomed her to the life of a Phoenix.

The love was passionate and heart-warming, Osiris not being able to give up on Sadie even till her last breathe. Rachel has certainly thrown a curve ball in this story, giving us more than we anticipated and an ending that was certainly not predictable!

A short read filled with the entire goodies one could want, after finishing this story there are no loose ends, no questions just an ending to a well delivered series. Smooth flowing storyline and chapters, well put forth plot and overall a sad tale to see end.

Rachel Firasek delivers what every reader wants, anticipation, mystery, romance and a tale that you will remember after you have turned the last page.

5

I rated The Last Beginning 5 Hearts as every story in this series will take a small piece of yours ! Its heartfelt, romantic and just leaves you starry eyed and sheepishly grinning ! What every reader wants RIGHT !

To Love and Trust Again by Anna James Book Review

Anna James is one of my favourite Authors who writes wonderful romances. !! I have read almost all of Anna's books and have loved them all. So today I have To Love and Trust Again  a short read, great for an afternoon by the pool or a night cap ! Here is the blurb - cover and my review !

Three years ago Molly Quin walked out of Dan Berringer’s apartment and told him that she wanted nothing to do with him ever again. Now, after accepting a position with Bennett Engineering, she will have to see Dan every day. Fate could be so cruel! Seeing him again so unexpectedly, she discovered to her chagrin, brought back feelings she thought she’d dealt with a long time ago.

Dan Berringer made a mistake. He’d hurt Molly badly. He wants her back now and will stop at nothing to win her including letting Max McDermott get in his way.

Max McDermott wants Molly Quin. She’s smart, funny and sexy as hell, but he is reluctant to pursue her. He knows Molly is attracted to him too but what about her relationship with Dan Berringer? And is he willing to become involved with someone he works with again?

Follow Molly on her journey as she deals with hurts from the past and her feelings in the present and learns how to love and trust again.

My thoughts

When I see Anna James I think romance - love - and a story that I will remember way past the last pages. Her stories draw you in, captivate you within the storyline, and introduce us to characters that pull in into the pages.

This is only a short read so I won’t go into the storyline much. But for all those who are after a love story with a compelling storyline, filled with characters with definition, depth and even realistic encounters then To Love and Trust again is for you.

The storyline is fluently flowing, interesting, heart-warming and even suspenseful. You will feel yourself feeling what the characters are feeling - I know I can certainly relate to this storyline... Maybe not us all, but none the less it’s a storyline that any romantic at heart will grasp.

To love and Trust again is a read you can read from the first page to the last, yet it’s filled with all the goodies. An ending I’m sure that the reader will certainly enjoy!! Myself as a reader - I find it amazing how authors can blend so much into a short read and you can still walk away sated and happy .. Not feeling like the story was rushed or something was missed. Anna certainly does keep the reader intrigued and happy...

A recommended read for all the romantics at heart - who understand the challenge to Love and Trust again.

I rated this 4/5 !!

Cinderella's Secret Diary by Ron Vitale Book Review

After a different spin on Cinderella and her handsome Prince, Cinderella's Secret Diary is certainly that. !! Find the cover ** which I think is Very Appropriate ** I really like it , the blurb and my review !

What happened to Cinderella after she married the Prince? Set in the late 1700s as Napoleon is rising to power, Cinderella embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to come to terms with her failed marriage and her inability to have a child. Torn between the Queen's insistence that she try all means necessary to conceive and her own desires, she agrees to travel to Paris to consult with a witch to help her become pregnant. Her journey leads her to find her long lost Fairy Godmother and aids her to solve the mystery behind her mother's death. Yet the Fey Lord, the Silver Fox, also takes notice in her and her world is suddenly turned upside down...

My Review

Clever and certainly  a twist in the fairy tale Of Cinderella.. This books gives us insight into her life, the not so happily ever after and the not so wonderfully Handsome prince lol..
An enjoyable read !!

3 1/2 STARS !!

Cinderella's Secret Diary is ideal  for  readers of any age  who enjoy fantasy, magic and a different spin to a story ..  It  is cleverly written, giving us a different insight into The story of Cinder and her prince. Maybe not such a happily ever after, and a fairy god mother that portrays a different side. Characters portrayed are very different to the original storyline, but Ron has put forth there characteristics well, giving them personalities and flaws of there own. The plot keeps you intrigued enough to want to read it right till the end to find out how Cinder's life goes and more to the mystery Ron has put forth.

Ron has woven mystery , romance, betrayal, magic,  Fae, and many concepts that you will not see coming. An intriguing storyline, that will hold your interest from page one. I will be awaiting book two to find out things become about , but certainly do pick up your copy if you enjoy a spin, and twist on a fairytale  that is well remembered by all !

Guest post J F Jenkins - Legend of the Inero Dragon Book Tour

Welcome today to my Guest post with J F Jenkins telling us how **The Dragon Saga ** became about !!

This tour runs from February 13th - 29th.. Please feel free to pop back for the book review of the second book in this series on the 23rd of February !

GUEST POST

Inspiration

I get asked: How did you come up with the idea for this book? A lot. It started with a dream. In it was a girl who was taken from home to be sacrificed to a deity. While on the alter, a handsome man came to rescue her, took her home, and promised her his kingdom if she agreed to be his. When I woke up, I took those details and started to fill in all of the gaps and that's how I got the dragon's saga.

The other books started to come about because as I wrote the first novel, other stories began to take shape. Why were the Inero doing what they were doing? As I stopped to think about that, I started getting the idea for “Legend of the Inero Dragon”. The next book, tentatively titled “Legend of the Touched” will bring both of the first two books together and conclude their stories. There are five books total planned and a short story. Book four and five are going to include a new cast of characters and dive further into the story of The Great Dragon.

Of course, I can't spill all of my secrets. I'll just say it involves romance, betrayal, and magic.

Book one in this series is available to purchase Here at amazon CLick here

Darien Oceina is the youngest son of the Great Dragon Lord of the Water. For years he's loved and cherished Tai Dawson from afar. Tai is a simple, ordinary girl who doesn't even know Darien exists. On his eighteenth birthday, he chooses her as his wife. But there’s one problem: She thinks his choice means she's going to be offered as a sacrifice to the Dragon Lord, but instead, she’s forced to move to his home, far away, to give up her life and be his bride.

When she first sees Darien after the ceremony, she doesn’t expect to feel anything but hatred toward him. The two are struggling with the complications of a new marriage when their nation is attacked by a rival dragon species. Together they learn to love one another while they struggle to stay one step ahead in a game where the prize is their survival.

Miss World Blog Tour - Giveaway & Character Interview.

Welcome to Miss World Blog Tour !! Today I have Kim here for a character Interview ... But first a little about Miss World.

About the Book:

It's 1993. Kim Ho wishes she were Courtney Love, instead of the chubby 16-year-old who clashes with her traditional Chinese parents. Her very own Kurt Cobain arrives in the form of Kevin, a 26-year-old failed musician. But Kevin uses Kim's rock-star dreams to exploit her, and those dreams die along with the real Kurt Cobain.Too scared to tell anyone, Kim conjures up a cross-dressing imaginary friend and dates Walter Riordan, the cute boy from special-ed. Walter helps her recover, but after a joke snowballs into a plot to murder Kevin, Kim's forced to choose between revenge or her sanity. This is a truly daring and original coming-of-age novel about one girl's quest to reclaim her power from those who've stolen it.
Welcome Kim - Lets  here a little about yourself.

1) How old are you and where do you live ?

I just turned 18 (Leo), and live in the dorms at UC Irvine.

2) You are Chinese what do you think about your Chinese parents stressing upon your traditions ?

It’s great to learn about traditions, but they keep forgetting that we’re no longer in China.  It sucks to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave when they put too many restrictions on you.  How can you feel free when you’ve got a 9 pm curfew and your parents never knock before coming into your room?  Besides, they make it seem like the only traditions that matter are outstanding academic achievement and blind obedience.  How boring is that?

3) What is your favourite band?

The Gun Club.

4) Describe yourself in five words,

A beautiful yet volatile soul.

5) Explain to me what you hope to achieve in life your goals?

I want a happy, exciting life with someone I love.  One where I’m free to be myself and not have to worry about getting judged. I am way more than that fat, ugly girl who was raped the day Kurt was found dead, and it’s always this constant fucking battle to move beyond that. Maybe I’ll sing and play again in the future, I don’t know. If I ever play out, it will be in small, dark club.  Dreams like that doesn’t die so easily, you know?  They just evolve. Careerwise, I want to work at a big, fancy library.   Live in a house with shelves of books and records, and a closet full of cool clothes.   Oh, and cats.  I want cats.

6) You favourite subject at school.

Composition.

7) Walter is your first love, what do you see in your future ...

Our future’s not looking too pretty.

8) Whats you fav colour and why

My favorite color is blood red because it’s full of violence and love and life.

9) Your parents are very strict, do you think this is because of your traditional custom ?

Yes. They meant well and wanted the best for me, but their way of doing it was too extreme.  At the same time, they were so predictable that I began to discover how I could beat their system.   But I can’t complain.  My mom thinks I wouldn’t have gotten into college if she didn’t push me, but I was the one who did all the work.  You can say that I won in the end, because I no longer live at home and they’re helping me out with school.

10) Describe to me your ideal best friend ** even if he is imaginary or she

We can talk about anything in the world, tell sick jokes, and make fun of other people together.  And even if their farts don’t smell like angel food cake and butter cream frosting, we’re still comfortable enough to burp and fart in front of each other.

The five qualities you hope to find in a relationship.

Love, safety, understanding, fun times, tons of hot sex.

11) Murder was an option to take back what was taken from you, what made you think this ?

Well, the loser asshole murdered me, in a way.  I wanted him to know exactly what it feels like to have his power taken away, too.  It’s very Old Testament of me. After what he did, I had no obligation to treat him like a human being.
But since he’s such a loser asshole, he’s not worth going to jail for.  That’s the one thing that stopped me from going through with it.  I prefer college to jail, anyway, and don’t really think I’m into other girls.
