Legend of the Oceina Dragon by J F Jenkins ** Book Review **

Well I must say normally I wouldnt read a book about Dragons, but when I was sent an email and asked would I like to review it, I  thought why not. I am trying to broaden my horizons and read different genres this year and I must say Im doing a pretty good job !!!  Here is the Book cover ** I really liked it ** Me being a cover love girl this caught my eye,, then blurb and my review !!

Darien Oceina is the youngest son of the Great Dragon Lord of the Water. For years he's loved and cherished Tai Dawson from afar. Tai is a simple, ordinary girl who doesn't even know Darien exists. On his eighteenth birthday, he chooses her as his wife. But there’s one problem: She thinks his choice means she's going to be offered as a sacrifice to the Dragon Lord, but instead, she’s forced to move to his home, far away, to give up her life and be his bride.

When she first sees Darien after the ceremony, she doesn’t expect to feel anything but hatred toward him. The two are struggling with the complications of a new marriage when their nation is attacked by a rival dragon species. Together they learn to love one another while they struggle to stay one step ahead in a game where the prize is their survival.

My Review ;)

Lord Oceina approaches the island Of Oceina when it is time for the giving of a sacrifice. This sacrifice enables the island people to live without fear of the other dragons nearby, and live life without worrying about the lives of their people.

The sacrifice must be a virgin, no older than 18 years old, of pure blood; this sacrifice is given to Lord Oceina as a trade for peace, safety and protection for the island residents. The residents find the sacrifice is just and acceptable and even the bearer considers them self to be worthy and special to be chosen. They approach their day of sacrifice to only find it is not what the past has portrayed but a whole different meaning to the word sacrifice.

There are four dragon species, representing different elements and each having their own qualities and abilities which are indescribably mystical.

Darien is the youngest of his species, Lord Oceina being his father hands Darien his sacrifice on his 18th birthday. His birthday gift if you may call it that - her name is Tai. A sacrifice I'm sure they will both remember.

My review !!

A story filled with mystery, fantasy, love, passion, murder and betrayal. Characters and plot show a huge amount of potential and area for growth and expansion to be a fantastic series. This story alone I found Unique!!!!! And incredibly intriguing. I assume for myself this alone, as there is nothing on the shelves like this and alone the world that J K Jenkins created is amazing and full of fantasy.

Characters I enjoyed, Darien - a girls dream come true, love dovey, lovable, caring and very tolerable. Not afraid to show his true self and feelings to his one true love. Darien is the one and only of his kind, once again unique to the dragon race, he has powers above all others. I'm sure in time his character will show great strengths and maturity to undertake his role he has been left to - to rule Oceina. He came across slightly timid , and shy and not outspoken, but given time I'm sure we will see a change in his character, this I look forward to.

Tai - I found conflicted due to her circumstances, but who wouldn't. Thrown into a world she knows nothing about, and given a second chance at life if you may call it. She deals with feelings she is unsure of, a love that she never wanted, and a man willing to give her everything he has to keep her. In time I'm sure Tai's character will grow and mature, she is caring and considerate enough to give life a go. Tai and Darien's love has its cute moments, filled with love, laughter, lust and a little passion. Both new to this side of things, it was limited, but love does find its way .

Overall, All the secondary characters I enjoyed, all fitting into the world and plot that Jenkins has created. At first I found it a little muddled - a tad confused - in the first few chapters having to slow down the reading to get the story concept, but after that the storyline flowed and continued till the end. The story does leave room for more, that I am sure will reflect upon the next book in the series. Here I hope to see alot of character development and growth as the story grows stronger. Book one giving us the insight to the world created and touching bases with the fantasy world that this author has made.

Full of lots of things to think about, a world you could never imagine and a storyline that will have you thinking way past the finish line.

I had to go a friends and explain this book, as it really amazed me , we sat drank coffee and discussed how someone could think to create this world of the Oceina Dragons. !!! Not normally something I would read but I am certainly glad I did.

I found myself mesmerized by the plot of this story, it's always nice to read something new and refreshing and I eagerly await book 2.

Extraordinary and Unmatched by any other story.

 4/5 dragons !!!!!
