Author Interview and Giveaway with Sharde RIchardson - Watched

Today Id like to welcome Sharde Richardson Author of Watched to Page Flipperz !!! here is the cover to Sharde's book  and blurb .. My review for Watched can be found Review from Goodreads .

Mikayla doesn't want much: just to rock out to her favorite band, become the next Kwiki Stop video gaming champion, and keep her Q-tip habit under control. What she does want is the sight of the sudden inexplicable dark auras around everyone to stop. Problem is, those auras are demons and Mikayla is the last trait holder with the power to ban them. Which is a total buzz kill.

To make matters worse, the town folk of Sulphur Springs don't look the same, and her classmates are a little dark in the eyes. There are murders, suicides, reckless skinny-dipping, gratuitous use of Q-tips, and newfound powers that Mikayla must learn to control.

Her past becomes present when a shape-shifter tells her what her true identity is, and how to keep the demons of Hell from nipping at her Converse. Through him she'll discover who to trust, who to kiss, and how valuable her abilities are to the right beings. Because the evils of Hell aren't staying down without a fight...

Or without her soul...

Author Interview Welcome Sharde !!!

I live in Alabama with my husband and son. No dogs or cats, though I'm partial to cats.

Bio in 140 characters or less: Somewhere in the cosmic collision of life, God saw fit to make another Alabamian.

The nitty: An Alabamian who loves cheese and life. She works in a nursing home and steals stories from the elderly in exchange for sponge baths. Next year her debut YA novel, Watched, will be released.

The nitty-gritty: She grew-up in the South. Almost as far south as you can get. She says things like "y'all" and "ain't" and "shut the front door"(which is more or less an expression of shock). She married a giant man and they have one, semi-giant son who's sometimes called Cluckey or The Child. During the daytime hours she works in a nursing home with the elderly.(Side note: She wants to inform you never, under any circumstances, be late for a sponge bath or try to take their dentures. The elderly are very protective of their dentures.)At night, she churns out stories and conspires to take over the world from the confines of her computer room.

Some quick and dirty facts:
1. She once severed her pinky toe and had it sewn back on.
2. Her worst vice is the use of four letter words. In public. Around children.(Rest assured, she is getting a handle on this.)
3. Since sixteen, she's had over thirty speeding tickets. She's twenty-four and counting, by the way.
4. Her wisdom teeth are intact.
5. She's had several affairs on her husband. All were with dairy products and various forms of cheese.
6. Sharde is lactose intolerant.
7. She likes to visit cemeteries.
8. One year, Sharde won a trip to Hawaii by guessing the mystery flavor of a Starburst.
9. Sometimes she buys groceries barefoot.
10. She is neither an Alabama nor Auburn College football fan.
11. Sharde once wet her pants in a Chinese restaurant after laughing at one of her husband's jokes.
12. As a kid, her favorite TV show was Bonanza. Ah, the joys of being reared by grandparents.
13. She's an American without all the fancy prefixes.
14. There are random notes all over her house with unfinished scenes from stories. Or from her dreams.
15. Sometimes she eavesdrops on other people's conversations to make her dialogue sound authentic.
16. She write stories that she likes to read. She knows that this is selfish.
17. Sharde laughs at gore. Case in point: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 film was another instance in which she wet her pants.
18. No other voice but Sam Elliot's could narrate her life

*************************************************************************

Sharde have you always wanted to be an author ?

I've been writing since elementary school. It was nothing serious, just something I did to keep me out of trouble. It was a great outlet for me, and over the years, I decided to buckle down on it and share my stories with other, less biased people.

How was Watched born ?

Watched  was born after watching a brutal hockey game I saw once while having dinner with my hubby. From the time I saw that game until it was finished was five months—maybe just a little more, actually.

Do you have a Muse ?

I don’t know. I guess music is the best muse for anyone.

Are any of your characters based on people you know ?

Mikayla is actually a mix of people I’ve met or known. I took different aspects from all of those people to create her. I’m forever in their debt, though they’ll never know exactly who they are.

When will book two be released or expected ?

**I would like to have it out in December, but keep book two, TOUCHED, in your to-be-announced piles. I’m obviously a slow writer.

Give me an insight into your writing or something you may find interesting to the reader .

**  I like to think even though it’s paranormal that my writing is realistic. It’s a little bold and dark in some areas, but my overall goal when writing stores is to make sure they don’t sound contrived. I think that’s why I enjoy writing in the paranormal genre, because it gives me license to cover my characters emotions from different angles, depending on the outlandish situation I put them in. And there are so many creatures and myths that can be used metaphorically in relations to those situations.

Do you like to listen to music whilst you write

 * Music is an absolute must when I’m writing. My favorite spot would be wherever I can make myself comfortable, and that has cheese available.

Some fun questions !!
  Fav drink -Tea. Sweet Tea
Fav movie - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
fav actor  - Um…this is going to sound weird, but Al Paccino.
Fav book - I have too many favorite books, however, THE WASP FACTORY by Iain Banks is great.
-Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Thanks so much for popping over today Sharde...

Giveaway time.. Sharde has donated three e copies of Watched .Must be a follower of my blog , pop over and thank Sharde for her donation and join her facebook page link is below  and tell me Do you judge a book by its cover? Author or blurb or how do you choose a book ?

Buy link to Whatnot & Doodads

Book review.

The cover defiantly depicts whats inside this read. Bryanna is a witch and an outcast by her kind. Instead of weaving magic of the magical kind she creates Whatnot and Doodads.

In the town of Sleepy Hollow where the outcasts all live, from Vampires, to Goblins, ghosts and a world of the Paranormal Byranna meets Demon Zeke.

Zeke convinces Bryanna she is worthwhile and shows her in which direction her life could take her, live with her magic or hide away. This story is filled with humours moments where I'm sure you will be laughing out loud and sexy steamy moments where the steam will be wafting off your pages. Stacey has created like able characters, and a short but intriguing storyline to boot.

At only 52 pages long, Stacey has woven all emotions well throughout, a steady paced storyline with intriguing and funny concepts throughout.

The relationship between Zeke and Bryanna did take off like a jet plane, Fast and swift -  but I'm sure you will enjoy the steamy, sexy scenes non the less. !!!  There romance was smokin ! ** waggles eyesbrows ** lol.

An enjoyable quickie to read, filled with humour, romance, steamy sex scenes, and the world of the paranormal I'm sure you will all enjoy.

Give Away time, Stacey has donated an E  copy to one lucky commentor . Please leave a comment on the post, telling me What kind Of Whatnots and Doodads you collect. Winner will be picked in one week. Leave me your email addy so I can contact you and you must be a follower !

Just for a little teaser Ive snuck on over to Nicola's blog and snaffled up this weeks Six sentence sunday !!!

Here you go !

Between Anjali’s sniping at the family and Rita’s dossier, I gathered the Ramas were rich, very rich. And by the size of their newly white-washed two-story house, they were loaded. In a country where real estate was at a premium, these guys had a monopoly on space, their house taking up a quarter of the block.

“Nice place,” I said, smoothing the chiffon of my kameez and hoping all the drama training at high school would count for something in the hours ahead.
“All pomp and show.” Anjali’s glare at the house would’ve exploded bricks if she’d had superhuman powers. “A fat cow needs a big barn.”

Author Interview with Laurie Bowler

Id like to Welcome Laurie to Page Flipperz today to enlighten us on some of her novels and also ask her a few questions ..

About the Author.

I'm Laurie Bowler and I live in the United Kingdom in a place called Hampshire, with my daughter, husband and 2 parrots and 2 cats (the parrots are very noisy but I love them). I work as a Health and Social Care Assessor, which is a teaching job to adults to further their education, I love my job its absolutely awesome and I have the best boss in the whole world!

Kat - Laurie how long have you been writing and have you always wanted to write ?

Laurie -  I started writing in 2009, it was never in my plans to be a writer but I decided one day to write a book and then it was published. Since then I haven't stopped writing, and I have now written 31 stories. I write in different genres paranormal fantasy with a little romance and horror. Writing horror is a new thing for me, and I am enjoying creating new stories for this and I seem to have plenty of ideas too!

Kat - What was you inspiration to write ?

Laurie - (( depends on which story you would like to talk about ? )) Death Bite and Hacked Up, they are my 2 new horror stories I got the idea of writing Death Bite when decided to change from fantasy to horror, and the ideas have just started to spill out of me. Hacked Up was brilliant to create and I had intense fun .

Jessica Hargreaves knows a thing or two about being a strong woman. But as a deadly epidemic sweeps across the world, she is put to the test as the flesh eaters rise from the dead and begin to consume the living flesh of the people they encounter. Can Jessica and her small band of survivors escape the evil that is rising across the land or will she be consumed by the unholy hunger of the damned?

Allie Bates longs for the peace and solitude from the strange stalker that had been sending crude and malicious messages and so she leaves her life behind in the city and moves to the country.
Allie moved opposite a strange and intensely dark house opposite, the first of the nightmare soon begin with the strange sounds of screaming.
Rising from curiosity and intrigue she ventures to investigate and then finds herself deep inside a nightmare she wished would end soon.
Will Allie ever be able to escape the nightmare and the constant torture? Or is she destined for death? Who is the psychopathic person that inhabits the house opposite?

Amazon link to buy Hacked up -99 cents

Kat - Laurie do you have a Muse ?

Laurie - I don't have a muse. All of my ideas for stories are created the minute I finish a story, before I know whats happening I am writing another one. Which I suppose accounts for the large number I've already done. I do love writing though, I find it relaxing and I enjoy it so much, I'm glad I started and haven't stopped.

Kat -  Have you based any of your characters with anyone you know ?
Actually one of my books called Serena Embracing Darkness is based upon the actions of a real person (she isn't a vampire though so don't worry). While this particular person was being mean to people etc I decided to write it in a book and then I turned her into a vampire, and the story began from there. She isn't a particularly nic character in the book but I promise she has a sort of epiphany and turns into a really nice person in the book, I guess its how I wish the original person could be like but isn't unfortunately.

Blurb .
Serena finds herself thrown into the dark world of the dead, her own maker had killed himself shortly after biting her. Leaving her unconscious and unaware of the monster she'd become, her only clue to his identity was the relic he'd left behind, the one Serena lovingly placed around her neck before returning home to her mortal family where she tried in vain to live without being noticed for the blood thirsty monster she'd become.
The relic that will inevitably open the gates of hell and unleash war across the human race; must be kept safe and away from the greedy hands of other immortals.
Serena is the keeper and unknowingly holds the relic, while her mother harbours the secrets that will end the current conflict.
It’s only then Serena finds the truth about immortality and how to reside harmoniously alongside humans, the price of immortality is immensely high, she must release her hold over her mortal life.
Survival, wits and the bonds of love are the concepts that will see Serena through the path of righteousness and allow her to live through the immortal path of time with a wealthy knowledge and expectancy of things to come.

Together they must stand and fight while maintaining their own level of pride in their feeding combined with the teachings of Tim into the revelations of the new world which is dark and dangerous beyond Serena’s control.

Depths of Darkness was inspired when I was writing a book about witches and vampires working together, it was then I added my own creations. I have written and created creatures that no one has ever heard off before, and they are all entirely fictional from my rather bizarre but fun imagination.
Blurb for Depths of Darkness

When her friend and mentor, the high witch Matace, is murdered, Patty is unsatisfied with the reports of his death and begins her own investigation. With the aid of Luke, her vampire friend, Patty delves deeper into the dangerous circumstances behind Matace’s death and finds more than she bargained for, the truth behind her own past.
As the dangers deepen and the truth behind Patty’s past are revealed, it becomes clear that the fate of the world is at stake and Patty may be the only one that can prevent the world’s destruction, but at what cost.

Amazon link to buy The Depths Of Darkness

Kat - Where do you like to write ?

Laurie - This will make you laugh. I sit on the sofa in the corner with my laptop rested on the arm, I nearly always have the television on but I can drown out back ground noise pretty well, I sort off have too especially with my 15 year old parrot Sydney chatting away rather loudly!

Kat - Give me some insight into your writing anything you may think the reader may be interested why this kind of story !

Laurie - Depths of Darkness is a fantasy world created with some amazing new creatures that I have created. The characters are well defined and the story is fun to read, and to discover more imaginative worlds and dimensions that I have written about.
My horror stories Death Bite and Hacked Up are scary and I added so much detail to the chapters, they are incredibly graphic!!

Kat - Do you like to listen to music when writing and your favourite  spot to write.

Laurie - No! That's one thing I cant do, I cant listen to music when I'm writing. I can block out the TV and the parrot but if music is on I tend to sing along to the tune and I never get any writing done lol.

Kat - What makes you laugh ?

Laurie - Lee Evans the comedian. Every time I see him on TV I'm laughing so much all the time. His jokes are just so funny, of course I have all of his DVD's as well.

Kat - What are you currently working on ?

Laurie  - At the moment I have a lot of exciting new ideas. I am working on Skelthra which is another creation of a different world and entirely new creatures. Also I am working on Sliced or Diced which is another horror, Vampire Hunter and Blood Fusions.I will have plenty of short stories coming out in between the larger stories which is always fun.

Kat -  If you couldn't be a writer what other occupation would you try or like to do ?

Laurie - If I didn't enjoy writing as much as I do, and I wanted to stop then I guess I would stick with my teaching job, and with my awesome boss!!

Ok so now some fun Questions ....
Tea, coffee coke    -   I love coffee and coke, but I dislike Tea loads, YUCK!

Fav movie        HMM ...my favourite movie has got to be Love Actually. I'm a romantic at heart and I enjoy romance in films a lot. My romantic heart comes out in my writing plenty of times, and i believe everyone has a different perspective of love and how they portray love to be.

Fav hotty actor !!!     -  Definitely Hugh Grant, he is handsome and absolutely awesome lol.
Fav book Virginia Andrews Flowers in the Attic. This one always makes me cry!

Fav TV show              - I adore CSI, I do get moaned at for watching it almost every night and I take over the TV remote so no one else can put anything else on..
Fav author ?                -  Virginia Andrews. Amazing books from a brilliant and imaginative mind.
A big thanks to Laurie today for answering my questions.

Cover Reveal for Cold Blood By Heather Hildenbrand Book 2 In the Dirty Blood series !!

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected. For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process. Which happens more often than not for the freshman. Lucky for them, my presence has just stolen the spotlight, and they get a break from the daily joys of hazing.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea.

So between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming commitee,
and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

Romancing your dark side Tour Book Review - Pulse of Heroes By A Jacob Sweeny w Giveaway

Romancing Your Dark Side Tour.- Book Review - Pulse of Heroes by A Jacob Sweeny @ Giveaway .

.

Title: Pulse Of Heroes

Author: A. Jacob Sweeny

Released: 31st October 2010

Published by: Thalamas Press

Genre: Paranormal, YA

Blurb: Michelle used to feel like she was behind in everything, especially school and relationships. Her great aunt from the old country says she is like a bland meal, "no salt or pepper". But in junior year, everything changes. Her father takes a position on the Town Council, a popular boy in school becomes interested in her, and most importantly, the Hekademos Learning Center, a private school for 'troubled' students, moves into her quiet neighborhood amidst the protests of the entire town.

After an embarrassing fall over the school wall, Michelle meets Elliot and her ordinary ‘bland’ life changes its course forever.

Elliot is no ordinary human. In fact, no one at the Hekademos Learning Center is. Beautiful and fierce, they have survived throughout the millennia by weaving in and out of human events. Through them, Michelle learns that history and myths from around the world are dotted with references to their kind. Michelle falls madly in love with the ever-striking and mysterious Elliot and, as much as he tries to fight it, he develops strong feelings for her as well. Although Elliot carries numerous painful memories from his many pasts, he disregards his own better judgment and the advice of his friends, and finds himself falling for Michelle‘s offbeat personality. Their feelings grow in intensity, but when History catches up with them, the difference between their life paths threatens to destroy any future that they might have had together.

Michelle learns that there are infinite shades of gray between black and white, and has to deal with the bundle of contradictory emotions called love. She has to trust her intuition in order to face the danger and uncertainty of being drawn into Elliot’s wondrous world. Ultimately, it is up to Michelle to make the split-second, life-altering decision that will either tear them apart forever, or give them another chance.
My Review

The cover is certainly mysterious !!! I Really love the cover those deep blue ocean eyes ... ** sigh **
Initially at first the story is slower to take off which is not a bad thing at all , its  building the storyline and progressing as the story goes along.  Believe me the momentum picks up, and I'm sure you wont be able to put it down.
There are Moments where want to sob along with the characters, and me being an emotional reader (( sniff sniff )) felt the  pain with the characters. But saying this , I let the moment come and then go and then  continued on  friskily reading along to find out in-between what’s happening.
You can see during the read that alot research was put into this story , the history involved  throughout and  this is nice to know it wasn’t a wham bam thank you maim storyline, if you get my drift - time and a thought process was well put forth, of course making it an enjoyable read for the person on the other end of the book.  I enjoyed how Elliot told his stories to Michelle along the way, intriguing not only Michelle but myself with his history and past.
A great cast of supporting characters, all built along the way, giving the storyline some depth and also creating a memento along the read. Lovable secondary characters that certainly grow on you, and that you enjoy to read .
AJ has wonderfully written her descriptions like poetry, as characteristics are explained- detailed -  I felt I was there in the book. The color of Elliot's eyes, the surrounding, everything that could be explained and defined was done so magically. All emotions well portrayed, sending the reading into a ** sniff sniff * sigh moment along with the character and also the heartfelt moments as well. Even moments where you wanted to just jump in the book and kick some arse.
A smooth flowing storyline which only progresses at a rapid rate after the initial introduction , creating that vat that sucks you in and has you reading for days just to find out how it will end... and not until you have finished will that vat release you. Smooth flowing chapters that flow from one till the next and  A storyline unique of its own, this alone  I found  great, so many stories out there at the moment . To find a book that contains its own unique storyline, with an intriguing plot, great cast of characters, and an ending I’m sure will make you only want more.
The book is told in third person and contains several POVS but this was easily understood and not at all confusing at any time during the read.
I really enjoyed the main characters Michelle and Elliot their lives much in a turmoil, emotions created  that will have you melting one moment, (( at those big blue eyes ))  and sobbing the next. Michelle was a caring, soft centered soul, but when the time was right she knew just what to do. Her Strong character traits shone through in this book, she tended to be a very emotional person but this blended well throughout the read. Elliot was a slightly tortured soul if you may call him that, very confused, yet his caring side surfaced on more than one occasion even with his moods the attraction between the characters was slow and gradual and not instant which I enjoyed.  ** it wasn't  like she looked at him and wham they where together, this progresses along the read at a good rate leaving us in anticipation.  The romance was sweet, and caring and definelty made you heart flutter. ** swoon **
Pulse of Heroes is filled with romance, action, suspense, drama and traits of history = and elements of the Paranormal World.
A read I'm sure you will enjoy from beginning to end and have you eagerly anticipating book 2 !!!

I must say I read this book the first time and rated it 4 1/2 stars but after reading it a second time, finishing it today AGAIN !  !! I changed my mind !! There is nothing I could or would change I loved it !

Author Interview and Giveaway with Candy Crum - The Eternal Gift

Id like to welcome Candy Crum to Page Flipperz today. Author of The  Eternal gift, Candy has agreed to answer some of my questions and also giveaway a E-copy of her book to one lucky person.

Cover and Blurb ..

A young girl (Kailah) discovers that she is from a lost and forgotten powerful Immortal blood line after she meets a strange new physician at work. She begins to have visions and see spirits and has trouble controlling bad things from happening when she is angry. Along the way she discovers the terrible truth about who she is and the incredible power that is locked away deep inside her. Her Immortal ancestors want to use her to destroy the vampire race. Vampires want to use her power to destroy her Immortal ancestors. But hiding in the shadows are those who have been watching her since she was born. They want to help Kailah discover who she is and help her learn to use her abilities. They simply want for her to make the right decision before it's too late. Unfortunately for them time is not on their side and the Rogue Vampires have plans for Kailah no one could have imagined.

Welcome Candy where abouts do you live , family, any pets ?

I live in Southern Indiana with my husband (Brandon) and two young sons (Brandon 5, Matt 3). We dont have any pets or anything like that but once we are able to buy our own home my dream is to have a St. Bernard or a Great Dane. I LOVE both breeds and they are both fantastic with children and families. I had one of each growing up and they are absolutely fantastic!

2. Candy how long have you written for and have you always wanted to write ?

I used to write short stories even as a little kid. I would write horror stories and everyone told me I'd be a writer one day but I didn't listen much. I wanted to be a vet at the time I think. lol! I really enjoyed animals and wanted to care for them. That passed as I realized I'd have to do surgery on them as well! I don't think I could do that if my life depended on it! I got out of writing for YEARS and then in high school began writing poetry. It was mostly dark stuff but I loved to express myself that way. Then I quit that and didn't pick up a pen for a very very long time. I hadn't even READ in a long long time. So when I began reading again, my imagination went back into overload and my idea that I had for a book years before came to the front of my mind and it clicked how I could make it a series. I started writing and just couldn't stop!

3. What inspired you to write The Eternal Gift, and how long did it take you to write it ?

I cant remember exactly what spawned the beginning of TEG but it wasn't at all called that in the beginning. The initial project started about 9 years ago and I worked (in my head) on some of the story and what I wanted to happen. The initial story was of Khanae and Khia and the beginning of what they were and how the war began. But I had no idea how (using Khanae as a lead character) to turn that story into a series since it was set 3000 years in the past. Once I started reading again, it dawned on me that I could set the story in present day and tell Khanae's story when SHE saw fit. So eventually, I am going to publish her story. And I'm thinking about publishing a book on Aeric as well. Those "autobiographies" will be written from their points of view and will be like a diary they had written and published. The storyline behind Khanae's biography (Titled: Memoirs of an Egyptian Goddess - name given by Aeric and Brett) is that she published ONE leather bound copy of her story so she could allow people she knew and trusted/loved to read it. She gives the copy to Kailah in one of the Eternal Series novels and that novel will be published shortly afterward so the readers can read "What Kailah Reads."
The Eternal Gift was originally titled Immortal Ties - but I found another book (seemed kind of erotic in nature) with the same title and because I was trying to stay in a healthy medium between YA and Adult (pleasurable for both readers), I didn't want that book to be associated with mine - so friends helped my come up with this title and I believe my friend Jodi Sturdevant was the one who came up with The Eternal Gift. The first version took 6 months in total to write. The second version (very different from the first) was only half finished when I ditched it. And the third version (TOTALLY different from the first) took only two months to write and finish because I found it so exciting to write and it was much more interesting and action packed  than the first novel or its second version.

4. Do you have a Muse ?

I don't have a 'muse' per se in the human form - but I believe that reading is definitely my muse as well as other things. I say 'other things' because I'm unsure exactly what they are. I just randomly get inspired - like today. I'm hoping to write some on the sequel (The Eternal Echo) after I finish these questions. My grandfather (My papaw Fruit who is mentioned in the novel) told me stories of my great-great grandfather who had the ability to 'take the fire out of people's hands' - meaning - he could take the pain away from a burn wound. He was only allowed to tell either a strange woman whom he had never met - or his seventh child (as long as it was a daughter. The ritual was passed from male - female - male). However, the seventh child WAS in fact a daughter - but she passed away and the secret was lost to the family when passed to a secret woman. I changed the 'healing' powers of my great-great grandfather (who was a half-blood Indian) to the great-great grandmother so it could be an Immortal gift - but I still kept my great-great grandfathers image in the novel. I honestly have no idea what the man looked like. I never saw anything that would give me a mental image - but I wanted to paint a picture of the typical Native American man (though he was only half) and I hope that I honored him in that.

5. Have you based any of your characters from anyone you know in particular ?

The MAJORITY of my characters in my novel are people I know. Kailah is me in most ways. I always believed there was something special in me but I just couldn't touch it. I always attributed that to my diminished Native American blood and the belief in the supernatural and that within the human spirit lies power we simply don't allow ourselves to touch - either from fear or ignorance. Amanda is the name of my sister though the name Kailah Clark was plucked from her beautiful friend whose likeness (rather than my own) was used. Raven hair, dark complexion, long eye lashes, curvy. Aeric, Brett, Khanae, and Khia are all works of fiction. Khanae I dreamed up almost a decade ago and Khia along with her. Aeric and Brett came to me when I was revamping (pun intended) the novel to make it present day and I needed a hottie or two! Gary is the name of my father and though he hasn't been a major character yet - I have a feeling he will be. Its a way to honor those I know and love and that have supported me over the years.

6. When will book two be released ? When would you like to have it ready by ?

Book two is a tossup! I have the story started - currently on chapter 5. But since I've been reading again instead of just writing SO many ideas have occurred to me! For instance - I planned on only getting 3 books (but HOPEfully 4) out of the series and then having to do the spin offs (such as the biographies). Now I have realized there is SO much more I can do! I have ideas like crazy on how to deal with Khia and how to make the books last and stay exciting and reeling people in more. So book two is going to be taking a turn. ALSO another big change - when I wrote book one, I was trying to get it published by a traditional publisher. I knew it needed to be marketable which was why I was trying to balance the YA/Adult evenly so it could be manageable. Now I have realized that self publishing is going to be the only way for me. So now - I have free reign! I don't have to censor myself now like I did before and I'm excited about that. I kept SO much out of the first book that I wanted to have in there because I knew it boldly crossed over that barrier into Adult. I am planning on it being subtle but having the novels transition into a more adult way of thinking. I am very excited about it because now I don't have to pull any punches and I don't have to edit my thoughts. I'm hoping that others will enjoy it. I'm not going to take it to extremes because I know people seem to like the style of this book - but I definitely want to take it in a more natural way for me.

7. Give  me some insight into your writing  - anything you may think the reader may be interested ...
why paranormal ?

Hmm. Insight into writing. Well - I kind of blackout when writing. I try not to focus. I get a story line written before I start the book and then I frequently go back to that to remember the direction I'm supposed to go. That keeps me from getting writers block and it is VERY effective - definitely recommend it. But when I write the stuff in between I lose focus and just start typing. Sometimes its great - sometimes I have to rewrite whole chapters. But I enjoy that process. This next book will be very exciting I'm hoping. There is going to be a betrayal. Analynn will be back and will be a force to be reckoned with. Things with Aeric and Kailah will change dramatically but I certainly wont say for better or worse because that's part of the mystery - all I can say is don't think you know whats going to happen! Haha! It wont be obvious! There will also be some sadness in the next novel. I cried when I started writing the first version of it. It was very heart breaking to me and I hope that it moves others as well. I had to toss all that (thought its still on my hard drive) because I rewrote the first novel before publishing. So now everything in the second novel makes absolutely no sense. So it has to be redone but I'm certainly keeping the main storyline.. Its very important to me. Major secrets will be revealed in this next one and I CANNOT wait to hear some of the comments when certain things are revealed! Also - Were's are introduced in this book! The wolves are incredible creatures and feature two breeds (the wolves and rogues) as well. The wolves are certainly something different than what I have seen done before. Hopefully everyone will enjoy them!
I chose paranormal because they are the only books that I can keep real interest in. I like mystery stories but I would rather watch them in a movie than read them. Too much real life. I want to escape into a world unknown. So I love the idea of vampires and werewolves and things like that! So fun!

8. Do you like to listen to a play list or music while you write ?

Music - is amazing. I am a HUGE fan of music and during action scenes I would listen to Disturbed for inspiration. I would imagine choreographing movements to the music and because I think their music is so fluid and magical - the scenes in the book turned out that way too. At least I hope others see it the same way! That is why I mentioned Disturbed in the novel. Dave Draiman is truly an amazing vocalist and his music moves me. I love to listen to it. I listen to a lot of other things too - but they are my absolute favorite.

9. Fun questions!

Tea, coffee, or coke. - well I LOVE tea! Hot or cold doesn't matter! And I LOVE coffee too! But I'm a pepsi drinker. lol!

Favorite movie - My default favorite is the Nightmare Before Christmas but I have a ton. I just always revert back to that title because I love it so much and its the one I can always name without a shadow of a doubt! I LOVE the music and even had the soundtrack for years. In fact, I need to have it again! I'm craving some "Jacks Lament"!

Fav hottie actor - Well I have a few! Ryan Reynolds - oh yes. I LOVE him! He is hilarious and VERY attractive. Johnny Depp (who doesn't name him?) and Sandra Bullock is another one I like. She is amazing and just as beautiful as she is talented.

Favorite book - Id have to say anything from the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead or the Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris. I honestly cant pick just one. I LOVE those novels.. I cant stay away from vampire stories! I enjoy the House of Night series too but after a few of them I was losing interest.

Favorite TV Series - True Blood! I love it! Eric = amazing. And no - I didn't name Aeric for Eric. LOL! I started writing Immortal Ties in 2009 and I didn't even know those book existed until AFTER season 3 of True Blood was over! I started watching season 1 right after Season 3 ended on HBO (late start on the TV series) but I couldn't stop watching after that!

Bled - The New Novella by Jason McIntyre Author Intro

Id like to welcome to Page FLipperz - Jason McIntyre - Bled

Author of the bestsellers:
ON THE GATHERING STORM and SHED

Plus the #1 Kindle Suspense: THE NIGHT WALK MEN

Here is the book cover and Blurb for Bled !!

She only wanted to leave. But he took that option from her. Now she wants it back.
Set on the same island as the reader favorite Shed, the latest literary suspense novella from bestselling author Jason McIntyre picks up the Dovetail Cove saga with this story of one lonely woman...trapped.
Tina McLeod is on the cusp of a new life. Extraordinary change is rare in her world but this newsflash means she can finally leave her small island town for good. No more pouring coffee for townsfolk in Main Street’s greasy spoon, no more living under the weight of her born-again mother. That is, until Frank Moort comes in for his usual lunch and dessert on an ordinary Friday in May.
Bled sees things turn backwards and upside down for each of them. Their encounter is prolonged and grotesque, the sort of thing splashing the covers of big city newspapers. Both are changed. And neither will come out clean on the other side.
A story about taking what’s not yours, Bled explores pushing back when you’ve been pushed too far. It paints in red the horrors from our most commonplace of surroundings: right out in the open where nothing can hide behind closed doors and shut mouths.

About the Author

Jason McIntyre has lived and worked in varied places across the globe. His writing also meanders from the pastoral to the garish, from the fantastical to the morbid. Vibrant characters and vivid surroundings stay with him and coalesce into novels and stories. Before his time as an editor, writer and communications professional, he spent several years as a graphic designer and commercial artist.
McIntyre's writing has been called darkly noir and sophisticated, styled after the likes of Chuck Palahniuk but with the pacing and mass appeal of Stephen King. The books tackle the family life subject matter of Jonathan Franzen but also eerie discoveries one might find in a Ray Bradbury story or those of Rod Serling.

Jason McIntyre’s books include the #1 Kindle Suspense, The Night Walk Men, Bestsellers On The Gathering Storm and Shed, plus the multi-layered coming-of-age literary suspense Thalo Blue.

Jason has been kind enough to answer a few questions and enlightened us with a little more about himself. The questions Ive put forth are as follows ;)

Kat - Jason , Please enlighten us and let us know how Bled became about .

Jason - began as a short story inspired by a single image of a waitress who had sore feet, wrinkles and arthritis, clearly too old to still be pouring coffee and bringing out slices of pie. But, though she was worn and tired, she had a pleasant way about her. The mostly old patrons of the cafe where she worked liked her and she'd been serving them coffee for years. I wondered what her life might have been like if just one thing had gone differently, say, thirty years ago. Of course, I started writing this as a short story, imagining it would be maybe ten pages long. A novella came out and, wouldn't you know it, it tied in with another of my novellas, SHED, and I began to see the entire island world of these characters and how it all fit together in a much larger story -- which will unfold if readers find it interesting in these first two chapters of it: BLED and then SHED.

Kat -  Have you taken characters from real life and put them into your book?

Jason - Not so much as a direct transfer. I'd probably be sued for libel. But there are certainly traits, characteristics and such that find their way into books. I've written quite a few books and stories and I tend to write first drafts quickly. It helps to know subject matter well when this is happening so characters and events are definitely seeded from things and people I know in the world.
Kat - Did you design the cover ? I like it !!
Yes  - Jason did design his own cover what do you all think ?

Kat - How many books have you planned for this series ?
Jason - That's a bit fuzzy. This initial story arc has four or five. But Dovetail Cove is so rich and unique and the issues here are so universal but just tweaked slightly with the interesting allure of the paranormal. I could foresee future story arcs with more books set here in Dovetail Cove, even after this main arc is resolved.

Kat - Did you always want to be an author ** This sounds funny,  but I recenlty found out one of my author friend did not want to be an author it just happened lol **
Jason - Did I want to be an author? Ha! No, not at all. I have quite a lot of common sense, and knew that would be a foolish life choice. But I've always been writing stories, and even before I started writing them down, I would tell them to myself in the dark of my bedroom to try and go to sleep. They would be long, multi-chapter things, continuing from night to night over weeks. I'd even go back and mentally edit the parts I didn't like a few nights later!

Kat - Your Favourite spot to write?
Jason - My studio which has a great writing space, wonderful music, perfect lighting and a door the closes out the rest of the world for a short stretch now and again.
Kat - Do you listen to music whilst writing ?
Jason - I do! I start out with a favorite album (usually pop music of some kind, heavy on good melody and instrumentation). If the writing is going well, I usually discover I haven't been specifically listening to the music for a while, and perhaps the album has even concluded.

Kat Your favourite past time ! What you love to do when your not writing ?
Jason - I spend time with my kiddos. I travel to places I've never been and do a lot of people-watching.
Ok some fun questions !!

Tea, coffee, soda, coke, ?? Tea, but herbal.

Fab movie  - The Shawshank Redemption

Fab book -  The Virgin Suicides

Fab author  - Paulo Coehlo

Chocolate or sweets ? Yes, yes, yes.

Fab song-  Fairtytale of New York

Fav colour  - - - Red, red, blood red.  !!! *
Thanks Jason for answering my questions ... Read on to find out more !!

Bleeding on the page:
An introduction to the new book ‘Bled’

I started writing the untitled short story which became Bled for an upcoming anthology called Nights Gone By. When I passed 10,000 words on it, I realized I had something way bigger and more involved than a short. I also realized that some of the characters from a previous novella called Shed had crept into the cafe where the main character works in this book. Uh oh, I thought. This means we've started a series!
And, sure enough, as the word count grew, I saw how things needed to evolve on the island where these two stories take place. And, I saw more stories beginning to form. Bled will not be the last book, novella or short tale to take place in the same universe as Shed.
There are more to come.
As for Teeny McLeod, her mom and the patrons of the Highliner Cafe, I'll be honest when I say it all occurred to me when I was sitting at a cafe inside a big box store near where I grew up. Since memories of where I grew up mingle freely with the world of Dovetail Cove and Shed, the two worlds became mentally entwined.
I recognized the sixty-something waitress from when I was a kid and used to visit the same cafe with my grandparents. They would get their sixty-cent coffees and I would get a slice of pie and ice cream. Here was this waitress, all these years later, still pouring the coffee, still bringing out the dessert. I wondered what her life would have been like if, say, one thing had gone differently a long time ago.
I began on Bled, still without a title at that point, only an image of this waitress as a young woman. What might the world have looked like for her, I wondered. And away I went.
